Stage 3's 2005 F150 5.4L XLT SuperCrew Project Truck Build
It's always nice when you can find an F150 that's in good condition, already has a lift kit, and already has pretty nice set of tires. Our 2005 F150 5.4L XLT SuperCrew Project Truck already had a Fabtech 6" Lift Kit, aggressive 18" wheels, and a K&N Cold Air Intake Kit, but other than those few mods, the truck was untouched and pretty well cared for. Still, it had a few issues that we needed to iron out to get its performance and ride quality back where we needed for all of our nefarious purposes. There were three things basically wrong with this truck when we got our hands on it: ride quality was pretty terrible (likely because the Fabtech lift had been on the truck for a VERY long time), braking was cutting it, and the truck definitely needed some new tires.
To solve the ride quality issue, we replaced the worn-out front Fabtech coilover assemblies with a pair of Halo Lifts Boss 2.0 Front Coilovers and used a 6" strut spacers to get them to fit with the truck's Fabtech Lift Kit. For the rear, we swapped out the worn and blown Fabtech rear shocks for a pair of Halo Lifts Boss 2.0 Remote Reservoir Rear Shocks for a 2009-2014 F150, which are long enough to work with a 6" lift kit on a 2004-2008 F150. The combination of new front coilovers and rear shocks immensely helped our truck's ride quality and its off-road performance. Shop similar F150 Leveling Kits.
Next was brakes. The pads on this thing were nearly down to nothing and at least one rotor was warped. Stopping power is always questionable on a lifted truck with big tires, but it gets even more sketchy with worn-out hardware. Fixing the issues was a 2004-2008 F150 Z36 Complete Brake Kit. Power Stops Kit comes with a full set of four brake rotors and a full set of Z36 Truck and Tow Carbon-Ceramic Brake Pads to provide a total overhaul of all your truck's wearable components. Needless to say, the Power Stop Kit helped immensely. Unfortunately, this specific brake kit is no longer in stock. Shop similar F150 Brake Kits.

Last, but not least, this truck needed tires. The 35x12.50" tires that were on the truck when we got it were worn down to nubs. Their replacements were a full set of 325/65R18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s. With an aggressive look, but excellent on-ride quality and low levels of noise, these tires were the perfect choice to keep our ride clean while still getting a wicked look for our 2005 Project Truck. Although these tires are pretty awesome, we no longer sell them on our website. Check out our inventory of comparable Off-Road Tires
