On the advice of the guys at Stage3 I purchased this system for my 2012 Ecoboost F-150 and it is exactly what I was hoping for. Unlike most other cat back systems, this kit does include a resonator, which lowers the overall sound, however don't be misled by the product description. This kit is not super silent and does not totally eliminate your exhaust note. What it does do is offer a nice low rumble at idle, enough that you would not mistake it for a stock system, yet the increase in volume while highway driving is noticeable but not obtrusive at all. In my opinion it has the perfect balance of increased flow and sound without annoying passengers with in cab drone. A big thanks to Stage3 and their staff for their suggestions, I am very pleased with the results!

2013, Ford, F-150 ecoboost
I took Stages 3's advice on a cat-back exhaust and purchased this one for my ecoboost truck. The sound is great a nice low rumble that is louder than stock but not annoying when your running down the highway. This exhaust allows your truck to still sound like a truck and not some kids 4 banger. Install for me took a little longer as one of the pipes had a flange on it and wouldn't allow it to seat fully into the next pipe. It was an easy fix with a cutoff wheel. I cant complain as this was still an easier setup to install than any other exhaust I've install as some hand fitting might be required. I love the look and sound and would recommend this exhaust to anyone with an ecoboost truck.

I was really disappointed with the fitment. It took about 3 hours and it barely lined up with the hanger locations on my long bed truck. I had to do some unexpected modifications which was definitely frustrating. That being said, I love the sound. It's by no means quiet at low RPMs but very quiet at cruising speeds. I think it's the best sounding option short of the high dollar Corsa setup.

I’m somewhat disappointed in this exhaust system. It’s much louder than stock, and despite the description, it does indeed drone. I was hoping for something quieter.

This is a great exhaust, love the sound. My advise, buy the stainless steel unit.

Package came really quick and MBRP has a really quality product. The exhaust welds were very nice and the whole system weighed less than half the stock exhaust! It went on really well and I had all the hardware. Sounds great and it should be the last exhaust system I have to pay for on my truck, it is the nicer steel version which I would recommend.

Just what I wanted. It sounds like a truck (although will never sound like a V8) results in better flow than stock. A little drone in the cab until you reach cruising speed but not bad. Roush open air cleaner, Ecosleeper exhaust, UPR catch can, soon to install SCT tuner.

Customer Question What is the difference between the XP series and the Installer series eco-sleeper exhaust and is this a good exhaust choice to mate with your phase 5 performace package for 2012 ecoboost f150?

Asked by: Harley-Jay - 1/27/2020
Customer Answer The XP Series is made out of 409 stainless steel. The Installer Series is made out of lower-quality aluminzed steel. This kit tends to be pretty tame, which is nice when paired with the downpipes (that increase sound volume) included in the Phase 5 package

Customer Question Is it possible to get a black exhaust tip instead of the shown stainless steel tip? I want this system but I also would like the black tip.

Asked by: P diddy - 5/4/2019
Customer Answer Unfortunately, this kit is only available with a polished tip out of the box. A compatible Black MBRP Tip is available separately.

Customer Question Would this be a direct fit on my 157" WB? I have access to tools, just no welding equipment...

Asked by: Mike - 5/16/2018
Customer Answer This kit will fit a 157" wheelbase F150 without the need for any cutting, trimming, or welding. MBRP includes a small extension pipe that allows this kit to fit on both 145" and 157" wheelbase trucks.

Customer Question I am looking for an exhaust system that will improve performance without being super loud at the same time, and I've noticed that many exhaust systems advertise that they will also help with fuel efficiency. Does this Eco-Sleeper exhaust system increase fuel efficiency?

Asked by: Nate - 10/17/2016
Customer Answer A cat-back system (any cat-back system, really) is not going to provide a huge difference in performance or fuel economy on its own. The combination of a conservative driving style and custom tuning is the best way to get improved fuel economy and better performance. Cat-back kits should really only be considered sound and aesthetic upgrades only.

Customer Question So how is the flow? Is it at least the same as stock or slightly more? I do not want something more restrictive

Asked by: Diego - 9/13/2016
Customer Answer This kit has more efficient flow than stock, since it's 3" in diameter all the way from the mid-pipe on back, while the stock exhaust is 2.5" for the resonator assembly, and only jumps up to 3" after the muffler.

Customer Question I am looking for a close to stock replacement cat-back exhaust in stainless steel. Would this be a suitable choice?

Asked by: John - 12/12/2015
Customer Answer This kit is a smidge louder than stock, but it's a good deal more mellow than most aftermarket cat-backs. It would be a good choice to replace the factory system with something not too obtrusive. The XP-Series is 409 stainless steel, so as long as you don't need 304 stainless, this kit should work for you.

Customer Question Will this bolt up to SW catted downpipes?

Asked by: David Tincher - 10/1/2015
Customer Answer Yep. It should bolt up to the Stainless Works kit and any other set of downpipes that are designed to bolt up to the stock cat-back kit.

Customer Question I'm having a hard time deciding on an exhaust for my 2013 ecoboost. Im curious what you recommend? I prefer performance over sound. I don't want something obnoxious sounding with drone. I thought I was settled on the Magnaflow side exit but I also like the Solo Mach-X dual. Could you point me in the right direction for something that moves air but isn't too loud? Thanks!

Asked by: Chad - 4/21/2015
Customer Answer Performance gains with any cat-back kit are going to be fairly minimal, more importantly, any gains you do get will be similar with practically any system (though there is more of a difference between kits that delete your factory resonator or keep it). These EcoSleeper systems are pretty tame, as is the Mach-X system with the resonator. MBRP's standard 3" systems also stay pretty mellow. Likewise the Borla Touring Kit. Honestly, you should fine one that suits your sense of taste and style, rather than try to maximize gains from a cat-back kit.
