Great Product. Very easy to use, and stores the stock file truck file. Also easy updates using SuperChips Spark software online. Overall I am very happy with this product. There is definitely more throttle response, faster shifts, and my butt dyno feels some hp/tq gains. It may not do as much as some of the custom tunes available out there, but I like the gains I got out of it, and I love that SuperChips give you a 2 year warranty with it. GREAT product for a daily driver looking for a little more.

The first thing I did when I recieved my tuner was to set up for better gas milage because I was taking a 2000 mile trip. I got 3miles per gallon less than the stock setup. I then programed in the performance tune. This thing knows the octane of the gas in your tank because My trucks computor said I was out of gas. I have to say after filling my tank with 93 octane the performance tune gave the engine a very noticable increase in power and torque. I even outran a newer model BMW M3 with a V8. I have downloaded updates but have not tried the better milage program yet to see if there was an update to the tune, I have to say that I am pleased with the performance tune but was a little upset that the canned tunes only provided 3 tune options.

Don't buy these tuners!! I've had it a week ad have yet been able to program my truck because the first update it needed was not current enough for my truck and Superchips has been taking there sweet time trying to get it where it will tune. This is my 5th Superchips tuner but first F5 and at this point will be my last Superchip if I even decide to keep this one. There are way to many other tuners out there with better customer support that have updated tunes that will work on a 4 yr old truck.

I bought this tuner to help improve fuel mileage. Here are my findings so far: On the 87 octane mode the mileage may have gone up a little (0.5-1 MPG), and drivability has increased. When I towed a two place clamshell snowmobile trailer in the 87 octane mode the mileage actually went down a little. This was with the cruise set at 73 MPH. Using the economy mode (or whatever they call it) I did see a slight increase in fuel mileage, but with the extreme lack of responsiveness using this setting I couldn't stand to drive it. I have not tried the heavy tow (because I don't need it) or performance (don't want to have to run premium fuel) modes. Overall I am not very satisfied with the tuner. While it has improved the drivability of the truck, the overall fuel mileage has not increased.

2012 F-350 6.7L Powerstroke
First off, don't hesitate to buy this tuner. I was skeptical that a tuner could deliver the advertised power gains for my STOCK 6.7L (+ 82.9 HP + 171.4 lb-ft), but I'm pretty sure it's in that neighborhood. There are five choices for transmission control. I went with the recommended Superchips tune but I may go back and try something more aggressive. The truck drives like stock at lower speeds (under 30 MPH), so you're not necessarily jumping off every stop light. However, it really opens up when you push a bit more on the accelerator. Some of this is throttle response and transmission tuning, but you can really feel the genuine torque gain when your mash on the pedal while on the highway. It's quite impressive. Like I said, you should expect to gain the 80+ HP and 170+ torque as advertised.

I bought this programmer to give my truck a little extra power for towing my camper. To be honest, I cant really tell a difference in power after installing the tow tune, except for the wallet damage from having to fill up with 91 octane, which is supposedly required by Superchips. I may try out one of the other tunes after camping season is over, and see if I can get some benefits from the programmer.

2005 Ford Ranger
I purchased the F5 Flashpaq-1845 for my 05 Ranger 4.0l V6. When I received the product I followed the instructions to a "T". Updated the device before doing anything else as stated in the instructions. Went to my vehicle and tried to tune, Tuner said "Vehicle manufacturer not supported" so I call superchips support line. First thing they do is try to send files to the device, did not work. Then they tried to reformat the device, which was not working properly. So after hours on the phone with them, they say they will send me a new device OVERNIGHT. Next day no device, so I wait another day, no device again. So I call back and they say they don't know what happened but they would get it sent out that day. Next day no device, so I call back and talk to the "Master Tech" and he explains that my ECM may have been flash updated if recently taken to Ford for any work to be done. So he continues with he may need to send files to read my ECM to send to the Engineers to look through to find the issue and resolve. I finally received the replacement device the next day and it still did not work. Called back to do the ECM read, get that all taken care of and they said it could take a few days. Later that same day they call me back but miss the call. I call the next morning and the guy who answered the phone was apparently having a bad morning and was very rude as well as everyone I spoke to at that company (5 different people). So I explained what was going on and he got an attitude so I simply said I need to speak to a manager. Few minutes later the manager calls me back and long story short he states that there was never an issue with the first device and that this situation should have been handle the first time I called within 5 minutes of me calling. He said that there should have never been a replacement device sent out. The whole time the only issue was.... the device had make and model selection options in a secret menu. So I sat around over a week for nothing!! Once I got the tuner installed I was very happy with the results. As far a support from superchips when/if you have an issue with anything concerns me very much! GOOD LUCK

Asked by: Paul - 8/10/2017
Customer Answer As long as you drive conservatively like you're trying to get good fuel economy, tuning can usually add 1-2mpgs. However, some folks enjoy the power so much that they end up stomping on the throttle at every opportunity, which gets them worse fuel economy.

Customer Question I have a 2015 F250 6.7L Diesel, 4-wheel drive. I use my truck as a daily driver and on occasion pull a 38 foot 5th wheel. Like everyone else I am looking for #1 better MPG and #2, more horsepower. I am concerned about adding a tuner to my truck and voiding the Ford warranty. 1. Will adding a tuner automatically void Fords Warranty? 2. Are there programmers where you can monitor and change tunes on the fly? I can get 17 to 18 MPG on the road doing 65MPH empty. But that drastically drops to around 10MPG when pulling the 5th wheel. Any help/comments are appreciated.

Asked by: David Frazier - 9/30/2016
Customer Answer 1). Adding a tune won't automatically void your powertrain warranty, though your dealership can refuse to perform powertrain-related repairs under the terms of your factory warranty if you do have mechanical issues and if the tuning is discovered. 2). Some tuning devices can shift on the fly, though most basic OBD-II tuners and monitors cannot. 3). In general, just about any tune can get you improved fuel mileage and power. What device and tuning you choose is really going to depend on how heavy you're towing, what else you're doing with your truck, and what modifications you're going to make down the road. Your best bet would be to give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific about what you're doing with your truck.

Customer Answer Nope. The tunes on the Flashpaq are specifically for stock applications and can't actually support DPF deletes or EGR deletes. The tuning should function fine on a 6.7L with a DPF and EGR without any dangerous EGT spikes.

Customer Question I have heard from several that with this tuner, the turbos run quite a bit louder? Is this only at WOT or all the time? Driving down the road, cruise set at 75, is my truck now louder than stock for instance? Also, on MPG gains, assuming the foot is light, Superchips vs your custom tunes of the SCT tuners: How much MPG difference are we talking? 1 vs 2? 1 vs 1.5? Thank you

Asked by: Matt - 11/13/2015
Customer Answer Once of the ways SuperChip's tunes squeeze out extra power is by increasing boost pressure, which makes the turbos work harder and cause a bit more noise, however, that extra noise will generally only occur when they spool, and your shouldn't get any extra road noise while cruising versus with the stock tuning. As far as fuel economy improvements, you could see up to 2mpg with either choice. In general, customers tend to see more consistent gains with 5-Star's Tuning versus SuperChips, given that SuperChip's tuning is fairly generalized.

Asked by: bcory1972 - 9/27/2015
Customer Answer You cannot. The Flashpaq locks, or "marries", itself onto a given vehicle's strategy code when you load a tune, and doesn't become unlocked, or "unmarried", until that same vehicle is returned to stock, which limits you to tuning a single vehicle at a time.

Customer Question Hi, i bought this superchips tuner for my 03 f150 5.4l. I since sold that truck now i have a 13 f150 w/5.0l. Can i reprogram to tune new truck. They both call for same model tuner?

Asked by: james enlow - 6/1/2015
Customer Answer You should be able to reuse this tuner, but if and only if you returned your old truck to stock before you sold it. If you did not return that '03 5.4L to stock before it went away, then your tuner is still "married" and locked to that old truck and can't be used on your new truck without an unlock from Superchips. If you're unsure about the married status of your device, you need to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433.

Customer Question I have a 2013 f150 with 5.0 i have recently added a k&n cold air intake and exhaust system. I read it should tune to the bolt ons. Now do i have different tuning options ? As in performance and then fuel economy or is it specifically performance and back to stock? And also will it get rid of the speed limiter that is set to 99mph? Or can i raise it to a higher speed? Thanks.

Asked by: george - 5/8/2015
Customer Answer The tuner has a couple of different tunes for the 2011-2014 F150 5.0Ls, including Economy Tunes, Tow Tunes, and Performance Tunes. You bolt-ons won't require and specific tuning for proper operation. The speed limiter can also be adjusted using the FlashPaq, though we personally suggest keeping it near the 125mph mark, as that's around the maximum the stock driveshafts can handle.

Customer Question can I use this with my roush exhaust and cold air intake on a 2014 5.0 f150?

Asked by: alias - 4/24/2015
Customer Answer Yep, you can. Both the Roush intake and cat-back are compatible with stock tuning, so they'll work fine with the FlashPaq's tunes.

Customer Question I have a 6.0 power stroke got a sinister diesel egr delete and will be getting a exhaust to delete the dpf I'm looking for a chip to support these deletes but not looking to spend lots just a lower horse power programmer to do these deletes with will this chip do that if not what will?

Asked by: Carson - 4/21/2015
Customer Answer This tuner cannot tune for EGR deletes or DPF-delete systems on the 6.4L or 6.7L Powerstrokes or older diesels have been retrofitted with DPF systems. Unfortunately, we do not supply any tuning whatsoever for these systems, due to EPA regulations.

Customer Answer The SuperChips Flashpaq does not adjust idle RPM, unfortunately. However, SCT's tuning devices can adjust idle to some degree.

Customer Question Will this tuner void my factory warranty?

Asked by: Luther Mitchell - 3/12/2015
Customer Answer Any PCM tuning, including the tuning provided by this SuperChips FlashPaq kit, can cause certain powertrain repairs to not be covered under the terms of your factory, of the damages can be linked to the tuning. You can check out our blog post on the subject or call us at 1-877-578-2433 if you need more information.

If you require control Vin You can change the language to Spanish? It is facuil operate? Since I'm looking for something simple, uncomplicated and reliable. Thanks for your answers

Asked by: EUGENIO - 3/12/2015
Customer Answer The tuner should work on your truck, however, the tuner does not have multiple-language functions and only displays its menus and information in English. That being said, the menus are fairly basic and easy to understand.

Customer Question How many miles per gallon does this tuner improve on a 2009 f150 4X4 5.4?

Asked by: Diedrich - 2/16/2015
Customer Answer It all depends on which tune you're running and what fuel octane is in your truck, but assuming you're actually trying to get fuel economy with your driving style, you can see up to 2mpg using 91 octane gas or higher. Generally, most fuel economy gains are in the 1 to 1.5mpg range.

Customer Question All I want to do is improve my mpg. Is this what I would but?

Asked by: Joe - 2/15/2015
Customer Answer This tuner can help, as its tunes generally tend improve fuel economy. However, a custom tune using an SCT device can usually get some better economy, but it really depends on your budget. Still, the best way to improve fuel economy is use premium gasoline and keep your foot nice and light.

Customer Question So this should work on any 2011/2012 f150 ecoboost, correct? my dad and myself are both wanting to buy one, can you set up a package deal of some sort? Like one tuner that we can use for both trucks at the same time? maybe a break on the price since we would be ordering 2, whether that's one unit for both or 2 separate units? thanks!!

Asked by: Adam - 1/24/2015
Customer Answer Yep. This tuner does work on the EcoBoost F150s. There's a couple of different ways we can potentially setup what you need, though your best bet would be to call us directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can go through your options.

Customer Question With this tuner, am I able to keep my truck all stock and just adjust the tire size for the speedometer? Or can I only adjust the tire size when running a tune? I would like to adjust my tire size but not have to run a tune.

Asked by: Avery 2013 F150 EcoBoost xlt - 1/3/2015
Customer Answer Honestly, your better bet would to have your Ford dealer do it via their IDS system or from a ProCal tool for much less money.

Customer Question If I currently have another brand mileage tune on my 02 7.3L, will this overwrite that existing tune without a problem? And if it does, will returning to 'stock' mode on this tuner return my vehicle to off-the-line stock or that existing mileage tune I already had? Hope that made sense.

Asked by: William - 12/29/2014
Customer Answer What you would actually need to do is return your truck to stock using the tuner you currently have, and then load in the SuperChips tune once you receive the device to actually preserve your factory tune and get proper function from your SuperChips tune of choice. If you don't return your vehicle to stock first, then the SuperChips tuner will only save that mileage tune you have as your "stock" tune, which can cause issues if you ever need to troubleshoot mechanical issues.

Customer Question when u use the economy tune, do u have to plug the tuner back in to go from economy to power tune? I have a 2011 f150 4x4 5.0 with the in dash lcd display. will this tuner adjust the mpg and speedometer? If i need to take vehicle to dealership and remove tune from truck, are they able to see that a tune was previously installed? What is the best priced tuner that i could use to make on demand adjustments with either a cell phone or add on display? Thanks!

Asked by: Dan Will - 12/3/2014
Customer Answer You will need to hook the tuner to your truck and load a new tune when you want to switch. The tuner can adjust for your truck's wheels, tires, and gear ratio so that your truck displays the correct speeds and MPG. If a dealership really wanted to, they would be able to detect a tune, if they deem it necessary. There are currently no tuners for the gas-powered Fords that can adjust or switch tunes on the fly. They all require a full power-down and upload.

Asked by: johnny366 - 11/9/2014
Customer Answer It won't totally delete your truck's limiter, but it can bump it up to 150mph.

Customer Question Why isn't the 2014 mustang gt 5.0 on your list of coverage for your 2 year warranty ? I just bought the 1842 flashpaq and was told I am covered for 2 years!!!

Asked by: Kent - 9/14/2014
Customer Answer Tuning support was only recently added for the 2014 model year Mustangs. The listing has been updated. The two-year powertrain warranty that comes with this tuner is only available directly through Superchips, and you'll need to register your device with them and follow whatever other steps they need in order to get it activated.

Customer Question Will this tune be able to piggy back on a Ford racing 91 octane tune?

Asked by: James - 8/4/2014
Customer Answer If you mean "stack" a ProCal tune and a SuperChips tune and get more power with both together, then no. Once you upload the SuperChips tune, you would effectively overwrite your ProCal tune completely. In fact, you should return your vehicle to it's stock tune first, before you load a new tune from any tuner.

Customer Question if i remove the programmer will it go back to factory programming?

Asked by: George 2013 fi50 ecoboost - 5/4/2014
Customer Answer The tuner doesn't stay plugged into your truck in order for you to run the tune. You'd hook the SuperChips tuner into your OBD-II port, upload the tune, and then unplug the tuner. You'd then have a SuperChips tune in your truck. To return it to stock, you'd hook the tuning device back in, physically select "Return to Stock" and the tuner would then re-upload your factory tuning files.

Customer Question I noticed this tuner as a tire size feature. Does that mean it can calibrate my odometer for for different tire sizes? Or does it strictly tune the PCM for different tire sizes?

Asked by: Johnny 2011 F150 Ecoboost FX4 - 4/11/2014
Customer Answer Speedometer and odometer readings are partially governed by the PCM, so the tuner is "correcting" your PCM in order for your gauges to display the correct speeds/mileage.

Customer Question Looking for a tuner to work with An airaid cold air intake and a flowmaster force II? I am really torn between three and I am looking for performance and fuel economy any recommendations ? Please help

Asked by: Elias Diaz 2011 FX4 5.0 - 3/30/2014
Customer Answer The "canned" tunes on this tuner are perfectly suitable for basic bolt-on parts like the Airaid Intake and Flowmaster Force II. Still, more power and better fuel economy can be found with custom tuning for your 5.0L truck.

Customer Question I have multiple questions. I currently have 30k on my truck, if I purchase this tuner and it blows up the engine (throws a rod or something) in 10k your limited waranty would cover the powertrain if ford states the issue was caused by the tuner? Can I have the tune installed and still use the tow/haul mode to switch to factory tow programing? Is there a high altitude setting?

Asked by: Cody 2011 F-150 Ecoboost - 3/20/2014
Customer Answer Just to clear this up: this is not a warranty from Stage 3, it's from Superchips, so any warranty issue would need to be dealt with via their own processes. I know it's kind of a petty distinction, but it's an important one. Superchip's limited warranty would cover a portion of the repairs that's limited to a total of $8,000 for the engine and transmission. Now, it's our understanding that SuperChip's tuning does not effect the tow/haul function on your truck, as that's strictly related to the transmission shift points and other transmission functions. That said, the tuner comes with specific tow tunes that are superior to the factory tow/haul mode. Superchips does have high altitude tunes available.

Customer Question what is the best(bang for my buck) tuner/programmer/menotior for a stock truck but will get a lot of performance upgrades in the forture? what kind of warranty do they offer if there is any warranty at all and if so what company honor's it?

Asked by: Brent Kirn - 3/5/2014
Customer Answer That would really depend on your model of truck and whether or not any of those future bolt-ons will require some sort of custom tuning. If they do need custom tuning, you're better off with an SCT device of your choosing. SCT, however, does not offer any sort of warranty whatsoever. If you're only planning on a few basic bolt-ons, then the Flashpaq is an excellent choice. That being said, some trucks, like the F150 EcoBoosts, are much better off with a custom tune.

Customer Question How will this tuner work once I add other performance parts, i.e. air intake and coil packs and so on?

Asked by: Edgar 2004 FX4 - 2/27/2014
Customer Answer The octane-based "canned" tunes in this tuner can handle most basic bolt-ons and combinations just fine. If you do already have a decent amount of parts your truck, you be better off with some sort of custom tuning.

Customer Answer Yes, this tuner saves your stock file. No, there's no limit on how may times you ca return to stock or upload a tune of a different style/octane.
