Very good bolt on product. Instant difference in the sound. Very throaty. Noticeable difference at high end RPM. Smoother cruising at regular RPM. This intake sytem is definitely a good value and nice addition to the powerful 5.0.

Took about 30mins for me to install. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. This filter is lower profile than the factory air filter which increases engine bay room. Performance wise I can feel a bit more pep when accelerating and my mpg has gone up 2-3mpg. Most amazing is the sound. When cruising or idling the engine is very quiet. But, when you mash the pedal down all the most glorious sounds of heaven come to you in a glorious cacophony of a hundred lions deep throated roar pushing you to conquer the gates of hell.

This is the sixth K&N cold air intake i've installed on a vehicle I own and just as with the other five kits the install is easy and the power gains are instant. There usually is a drastic sound in under hood noise (you can hear the intake suck in air every time you get on the pedal) Im sure this kit is the same however I have a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust on my truck so thats all I can hear lol. My advice to anyone buying this kit is to install the plastic hose connectors on the K&N tube first before you do anything on your vehicle, I've had they strip out and / or break if your not careful putting them in and nothing sucks more than having to put your stock intake back in while you wait for replacement hose fittings from K&N. Installing the hose fittings is one of the last steps in the instructions which is why I advise anyone buying this kit do that first in case theres an issue. The hose fittings breaking when installing in the K&N air intake tube is the only issue I have ever had with a K&N kit (but not this time). Other than that past experience these kits are awesome, better throttle response, instant power and if you're gentle on the pedal you'll see a slight MPG gain too.

Without a doubt the best cold air intake I've used out of all the ones I've tried for the 5.0. Highly and strongly recommend this product and it's also at the lower end when it comes to price which is all the more reason I was surprised when it out performed my 3 past CAI's.

i installed the series 77 on mine in January. I've been scratching my head as to why there is now a flat spot about 1/3 throttle. Almost a burbling sound. Especially noticeable when towing. Runs great when it clears the flat spot. Been looking on forums for months and haven't heard too many issues with similar applications. I just recently bought a SCT tuner for it trying to rid myself of issue to no avail. It ran worse. Any input on where to find an answer. Boiling in VEGAS

Installation was a breeze. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a little more umph out of their 5.0 and still not have to pay through the nose. Truck just feels slightly better through the entire rpm band not to mention the sound! Now if phase3 would go 50% off superchargers I'd be all set lol

This intake sounds amazing! It has a lot of grunt and it actually sounds like my truck has aftermarket exhaust. I'm 100% impressed and Stage 3 gave me a great deal. The shipping was on point and I will buy from them again in the near future. I've had multiple compliments from friends.

Cheap construction. Missing parts. Called K&N they sent wrong missing piece. Does give a deeper tone with my Roush catback.

Just installed on my 13 fx4. It sounds amazing. Feel faster throttle response. One issue is the housing fitment for the box isn't tight near hinges but I see no problems with that.

Customer Question I bought my truck used and it has this intake but the filter looks like it’s seen better days. Is there any way I can just buy a replacement filter. I have the cleaning kit but it still looks pretty bad.

Asked by: David - 4/12/2022
Customer Answer Yep. The part number for replacement filters is RU-5173. Give us a call directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at [email protected] to order.

Customer Question Will this intake work with the boss 302 intake manifold

Asked by: Joshua - 4/12/2022
Customer Answer It will not. The Boss 302 manifolds require a heavily customized intake in order to work on the F150s. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 or email us at [email protected] for options.

Customer Question Well this intake result in any positives when it comes to towing? I have a 30 foot travel trailer that I tow with my 2013 F150 and I'm always looing for an advantage.

Asked by: Darrell - 3/19/2016
Customer Answer It will help a bit, in that it adds some top-end power, though it won't make as significant of a difference as getting your truck tuned, especially custom tuned.

Customer Question Will this be compatible with a new 2015 5.0 F-150?

Asked by: Cody - 1/19/2016
Customer Answer This kit will not fit the 2015 F150s. You can find our 2015 F150 5.0L Cold Air Intakes here.

Customer Question I'm thinking of purchasing this intake system, and I am also interested in the BBK 85mm Power-Plus Throttle Body, both for a '14 FX4. Will this K&N intake kit fit with the afmorementioned TB?

Asked by: Josh Stewart - 8/15/2015
Customer Answer The will fit together, though the coupler that connects the intake's inlet tube and the throttle body can have a tight fit over the BBK unit, and you may need to apply either heat and/or lubricant to get it to fit.

Customer Question I live in Labrador City, Canada and we have very cold winters (-50 C on average in January and February) I have heard the cold air intake systems like this one will freeze up in those harsh temps and stop air flow into the motor and causing many problems. Is this true? Have you come across any issues similar to these?

Asked by: Steve - 4/26/2015
Customer Answer The filter oil that's used with this kit could likely freeze at those extreme temperatures, though I haven't gotten anyone to give me a specific freezing point as of yet. If you're looking to add a cold air intake, you may want to consider using a system that has a dry/non-oiled air filter.

Customer Question What is the difference in the K&N -63-2581 for $ 266.00 over the AFE Stage 2 51-11962-1B for $ 364.00 Is it worth the extra money and why ?

Asked by: Jeff - 2/23/2015
Customer Answer The biggest difference is that the K&N kit's inlet tubing and heat shield is made entirely out of fairly basic plastic, while the aFe Stage 2 Kit uses aluminum tubing and heat shield, both of which of have black wrinkle powder coat finishes. That specific aFe kit also has a dry filter design that's easier to clean and maintenance than the K&N's oiled filter. Whether it's worth the money depends on what you're looking for. If you just want some extra power without much fuss, then the K&N's you're better bet. If you want something that's stronger, looks a little more aggressive under the hood, and is easier to deal with, then the aFe kit is your better bet.

Customer Question Do I need to change my air intake sensor when changing intakes or to a performance filter?

Asked by: Kevin Busch F150 5.0L - 6/1/2014
Customer Answer You reuse your stock MAF sensor and simply transfer it over to the new housing on the K&N. This intake kit comes with its own air filter.
