2019 Ranger Lariat FX4
Installed the Fox shocks on just the rear of my truck to improve the soft squishy ride that the factory Ford FX4 shocks have. The Fox shocks greatly improved the ride and gave the truck a more refined and controlled ride. No more squirrely rear end or uncontrolled bounce when going on on ramps and hitting the expansion joints on a curve, which sometimes felt like the back end was going to go out from under you. Looking forward to doing the front struts at some point to help level the front of the truck out but if you just looking for a better ride these rear shocks are a huge improvement over the factory shocks, these are what the truck should have had from factory.

Best bang to vastly reduce bounce and wallow
Like many others, I loved most things about the current Ranger except the bouncy, unsettled ride. I replaced only the rear shocks, and wow. The truck should have come this way. The Fox rears are still soft, which matches the front suspension, but the bouncing is 90% gone. The truck is much more confident at high speeds that stock. I highly recommend this upgrade, especially giving the reasonable price for what you gain. Install is doable by anyone who has DIY skills.

Bought these on sale here. Stupid fast shipping. Put them on and what a difference. No more floaty feeling going over bumps. Back end feels more planted than before. Ride quality is as good if not a little better. Like others have said, this is how the truck should have been from the factory.

These are a night and day difference compared to the stock FX4 shocks. I was looking for a more dampened ride compared to the stock shocks and these deliver! I only go to MX parks and some desert trails, nothing extreme so I was looking for an overall ride improvement without having to change out the fronts. The Fox 2.0's are exactly what I was looking for. I changed these out after having my truck for only 1-week, very happy with the result and the assistance from Stage 3

I put these on my non-FX4 Ranger to help with the ride. I put them on and did not notice much on the normal backroads I drive on, but the biggest difference is driving in wind and on the highway. The truck is planted and feels safer. I look forward to doing something with the front shocks before too long. The build quality of these shocks is beautiful, definitely a high-end purchase.

These rear shocks have paired well with my rear deaver leaf springs and front 2.0 eibach coilovers. They really improve handling on pavement and off. I have one shock that leaked a little fluid, but it still holds a charge and didn’t blow out. Be aware Fox will not send you a replacement shock if you have problems. They will rebuild the shock, but expect the buyer to pay for shipping to their shop. Overall I’m pretty happy with the shock.

Great addition. The FX4s ride horrible from the factory. The Fox shocks greatly calmed down the side to side sway and added no harshness overall. Well worth the money. Looking forward to getting the front shocks too.

2020 Ford Ranger
My first upgrade was Rough Country front coils and rear shocks. The rear shock bushing wore out in less than 10k miles. I bought the Fox for rear only and they are huge improvement. I am hard in truck ruining higher speeds across lake when I’ve fishing and open trails in northern Wisconsin forest when hunting so these are used. Saving now to switch front coil overs. No issues yet with the RC’s but the quality of the Fox rears is evident and I want front tuning to match

Customer Answer You would reuse the factory nuts and bolts with the Fox shocks. There's no reason to replace them unless they are stripped or broken.

Customer Question Would the rear shocks improve the lean and body roll on backroads, or to improve this would it be best to invest in the ford performance 2.0 kit? I am not looking for it to handle like a sports car, but to make it stiffer around bends would be nice.

Customer Answer The rear shocks do make a pretty substantial difference in rear-end handling and bounce/jounce. They won't do much for front body roll, and you would need a new set of front strut assemblies/coilovers if you want a more all-around handling increase. Something like the Ford Performance 2.0 Kit or our Fox Stage 1 Package may be more up your alley.

Customer Question Does it matter which way you mount these?

Customer Answer Technically, since these are monotube shocks, orientation doesn't matter in regards to function or performance. Personally, I like to mount my shocks barrel up and shaft down, but you can mount them barrel down and shaft up.

Customer Answer Shocks alone go a long way to helping fix bounce and jounce on the Rangers, though they may not totally alleviate the issue, they do help immensely.

Customer Answer I agree with Jason, these greatly helped on my truck I just did the rear shocks and they are a huge improvement over the FX4 shocks. Takes most of the squirrelyness out of the rear end, much more stable feeling and controlled.

Customer Question How do these Fox shocks handle tow load with about 400 lb tongue weight.? Do these bounce like the stock FX4 shocks or have good rebound damping?

Customer Answer We have roughly 400lbs on the bed of our 2019 Ranger with its rack, DECKED system, and RTT and they work great. Vastly improved rebound and stability. While it's not quite the same as trailer weight on the tongue, the 2.0s should still be a good upgrade.
