the 15-17 F150's are good looking trucks from factory but they still leave a lot of room for aftermarket improvement in terms of visuals and utility. We started beefing up our F150 project truck by adding a new Caliber9 grille, Putco lower grille and an AMP Bedstep. Check out all the details below!
Caliber9 Grille with OnX6 Light Bar
The most immediately noticeable change to the front of our 2017 F150 is the sleek Caliber9 grille with a Baja Designs ONX6 light bar mounted in it. Caliber9 uses a combination of a thick steel frame, stainless steel mesh and a tough plastic shell to create a durable and streamlined grille that blends nicely with the F150's exterior design. Also, the ONX6 light bar mounted in the center is great for late night trail runs or racing through the desert under the moon. Needless to say, we're pleased with the whole package! Putco Stainless Steel Lower Bumper Grille
The lower bumper opening on F150's has consistently been a bit of a confused mess design wise, especially with the mixed standards for front license plates across the states. Thankfully Putco has a clean cut, one piece lower grille to address the problem. The grille is made out of high-quality materials and won't suffer from rust or breakage while still allowing proper airflow to our F150's intercooler for the 3.5L EcoBoost. While this grille may require custom relocation for trucks with front plates, it's a simple install overall that makes for a solid styling upgrade. F150 Putco Stainless Steel Lower Bumper Grille
AMP Research F150 Bumper Step
Most of us here at Stage 3 (myself included) are not Olympic Gymnasts so getting in and out of our truck's beds becomes increasingly difficult as we lift them. Making our lives slightly easier is the convenient and simple AMP BedStep Bumper Step. This non-slip, retractable bumper step quickly flips down with the nudge of a foot providing a faster, easier, and safer way to load or unload our gear. It's also worth noting that I accidentally smashed this one into a rock and it still functions flawlessly. I approve. F150 AMP BedStep Bumper Step
Rhino Rack Vortex Bars & XTray (Large)
If there's one sure fire way to add more storage and a rugged utility look to your F-150, it's to add a roof rack. Some items such as snowboards and kayaks don't always fit nicely in a pickup truck bed, especially if you're already hauling camping gear or recovery gear back there, so your best option is a roof mounted system. We set up our 2017 F-150 with a set of Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 Bars and a Large XTray Cargo Basket to provide us with additional cargo space when our bed is loaded up with a quad, dirt bikes or whatever else we need to shuttle around. The rack's feet have a specialized clamp that hooks into the F150's door jamb and uses tension to lock the cross bars into place. This creates a simple, no-drill install that won't damage the truck's roof. F150 SuperCrew Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 2-Bar Roof Rack , Rhino Rack Large XTray (58x43x6")
