Install Guide: 2004-2014 F150 BedRug Tailgate and Bed Mat on our 2012 F150 EcoBoost FX4!

We're big fans of BedRug, and we even had a complete BedRug liner on our 2012 F150 5.0L Project Truck, due to it not having the best spray-in liner in the world. Our current 2012 F150 EcoBoost FX4 actually has a pretty high-quality spray-in liner, but if it has a flaw, it's extremely slippery and rough. To fix the issue, we grabbed a more basic BedRug Bed Mat and a tailgate mat to help alleviate the situation. While a little less intensive than a complete liner, these mats still have BedRug's excellent levels of quality and fitment. Installation was also extremely easy. A few strips and patches of 3M tape, some patting down, and we were through. The BedRug bed mat and tailgate mat are good upgrades and didn't leave much for us to complain about.

To actually get this both mats installed while we casually filmed, photographed, and watched, we headed down to Extreme Performance out in Goodyear, Arizona, for some assistance. We loaded up the BedRugs (among a few other parts), our cameras, and our selves and rolled into Extreme's garage where Darrell was waiting to give us hand. We got the truck in and he got right to work.

Darrell started with the tailgate mat, which has two Velcro strips on its back which accept rectangular tabs with double-sided tape. He spaced each Velcro patch out evenly across the top strip of the mat before pressing it down on the truck. He made sure to clean off the bedliner as he went with both surface cleaner and BedRug's adhesion promoter.

Once the top was done, Darrell pressed it down and smoothed it out.

Darrell then moved on to the bottom strip and cleaned up the bed while applying the Velcro patches.

With the tailgate completed, Darrell moved on the the Bed Mat. While large, the bed mat only requires two long strips of Velcro with tape. Darrell attached the strips, and pulled the protector off the tape before setting the rug in the bed.

Darrell mat sure the mat was lined up properly before making sure the mat was pressed down completely by walking on it.

Darrell hopped out of our truck, and our install was complete.
