2005-2009 Mustang GT Axle-Back Exhaust Kits

Why an Axle-Back may be a better Option than a Cat-Back

With a ton of axle-back options and a whole bunch of cat-back exhaust options for your 2005 to 2009 Mustang GT, things can get pretty confusing in one heck of a hurry. So, instead of attempting to break down each kit, type of kit, style of kit, size of kit, or anything else (frankly, there's too many), we're going to give you a few reasons why you may want an axle-back exhaust kit instead of a more extensive cat-back exhaust system:

• Great Sound: Even though an axle-back only replaces your Mustang's stock mufflers and tips, those are the parts that count and an axle-back system is all you really need to give your Pony a new roar and aggressive exhaust not.
• Easy Install: Because an axle-back kit is just a pair of mufflers and exhaust tips, they're ridiculously easy to install and can be up and running on your Pony in less than half an hour with practically no hassles.
• Lower cost: The more steel tubing you throw into something, the more expensive it tends to get and cat-backs are much more expensive than similar Mustang axle-back exhaust systems. Axle-back kits save you big bucks while still providing the excellent sound you need.
• Exaggerated Power: One of the biggest arguments for choosing a cat-back over an axle-back system is that a cat-back system will improve performance. While this is generally true, your average cat-back exhaust kit generally won't provide you with the ridiculous amounts of power that tend to get advertised. Unless you're planning on adding a supercharger or going with a very powerful naturally aspirated build with aggressive tuning, you can get away with an axle-back without anything getting lost.
