Fox's 2.0 Front Coilovers make for one heck of an upgrade on the 2014 F150s, and give your truck up to 2" of extra front ride height along with an excellent street ride and improved off-road performance. Now, the only difference between the 2009 to 2013 Fox 2.0 Coilover Kits and their 2014 versions is the lower mount, which switched over to a par-and-pin configuration from a standard clevis for the 2014 and up model years. Why? Because Ford. Now, usually this isn't a huge issue, but our customer Chris found out that when combined with an incorrect torque value, the bar-and-pin 2014 coilovers can have a bit of issue. More on that later. More importantly, Chris sent us a bunch of excellent images detailing his Fox 2.0 install, the problem he had, and how he solved it. It all worked out in the end, and Chris's truck is looking good sitting on its new coilovers.

Now, everything was going swimmingly at this point. Chris unscrewed the top mounting nuts, removed the tie rod from the knuckle, unbolted the UCA from the spindle, and removed the coilover assembly from the truck. The issue came when Chris installed the new coilover assembly into the truck and this happened:

That right there is a sheared lower pin bolt. The problem is that Fox's instructions say to tighten that fairly small, steel bolt to 160ft-lbs, which is pretty extreme, to say the least. While doubting the wisdom of the instructions, Chris was a good soldier and torque as specified with the above result. Luckily, Chris was able to find similar bolts at a local hardware store and tightened them down to a much more reasonable 90ft-lbs and added a dab of blue thread locker for safe measure. The good news is his truck looks awesome post install and is riding around without any issues:

Thanks you, Chris, for sharing! If you, or someone you know wants to torque a Fox lower pin bolt to 160ft-lbs, don't.
