The 2015-2022 F150s and the 2017-2020 Raptors may be more than capable of getting dirty, but that doesn't mean you want to break anything when you do head off the beaten path, and lets be honest, a lot can go wrong in a hurry when the terrain gets rough. The good news is that our friends over at Grimm OffRoad have just released a full set of skid plates for the 2015-2022 F150s and 2017-2020 Raptors. Grimm OffRoad now offers an Engine Skid Plate, Transmission Skid Plate, Transfer Case Skid Plate, and a Fuel Tank Skid Plate so that you can armor nearly all of your F150 or Raptor's critical driveline and powertrain components. 2015-2022 F150 & Raptor Grimm OffRoad Engine Skid Plates

The Grimm OffRoad Engine Skid Plates are by far the most important skids you can grab for the truck. Your F150 or Raptor is most likely to run into something with its front end and bang itself up going over objects. The Grimm OffRoad Engine Skid Plates feature a 2-piece design with a forward skid plate coming up at angle so that you don't lose approach angles while also protecting your steering rack, as well as a rear skid plate that bridges the front crossmembers and protects your engine oil pan. The front skid plate comes with brackets and hardware for mounting and don't require any drilling or cutting. Their thick, 11-gauge steel construction means that they'll be able to take some hits that would leave your F150 or Raptor stuck somewhere with a shattered steering rack or holed oil pan.

The transmission pan is extremely vulnerable to damage. It's long, it's closer to the middle of the truck where high-centering is always an option, and it's made out of fairly thin stamped steel. The Grimm OffRoad Transmission Skid Plate protects the transmission fluid pan along its entire length. Like the engine skid plates, the Grimm Transmission Skid plate is made out of 11-gauge steel, which makes it much stronger than the factory transmission pan. The pan installs between the rear engine crossmember and the transmission crossmember with included hardware, giving it a solid mount so that it can't deform and wreck your stock transmission pan.

A lot of F150 and Raptor models came with a transfer case skid from the factory, but it's made out of fairly thin, stamped steel that won't do much so save your transfer case or driveshaft flange from damage if you take a pretty brutal hit. The Grimm OffRoad Transfer Case Skid Plate is much stronger than the stock transfer skid and offers up slightly more coverage than stock so that you get some extra protection. With the transfer case being toward the center of the truck, getting high centered around their can be an issue, but the strong 11-gauge steel construction of the Grimm Skid Plate can really save your bacon.

2015-2022 F150 & Raptor Grimm OffRoad 36-Gallon Fuel Tank Skid Plate

The factory 36-gallon fuel tank is huge and handy, but that size does open it up to potential damage from terrain and obstacles. While some trucks did come with a factory plastic "skid plate," it was more designed to deflect small rocks and stones rather than provide serious protection against damage. The Grimm OffRoad Fuel Tank Skid Plate for OEM 36-Gallon Tanks gives your fuel tank actual protection against off-road hazards so that you don't end up putting a hole in thing and really ruining your day. Like the rest of Grimm's skids, the Fuel Tank Skid plate is made out of 11-guage steel and is topped off with a 2-stage black powder coat finish that looks great. That being said, this skid plate does require FX4-style fuel tank straps with mounting studs, so make sure you have a set before you order Grimm's Fuel Tank Skid. This skid plate also only fits 36-gallon tanks, and won't fit the smaller 23-gallon tanks.

While all the individual skid plates are certainly great, the most cost-effective way to get protection for your tough F150 or Raptor build is with Grimm OffRoad's Complete Skid Plate Package. In any case, any one of Grimm's skid plates can add a ton of protection to your truck in almost no time at all.
