2010 Ford F150
Great product! I run an edge programmer and monitor my temps closely. My truck has 140,000 miles on it was getting to where when I would tow bigger trailers and my trans temp would get up to 230F degrees, this would also drive my engine temps up to similar temps. After installing this pan, the trans temp rarely gets above 205 and engine temps stick around the same temp when towing. When driving normally both stay at 195F.

Aesthetically it looks great for being under the truck. Performance wise it does squat. Same exact temperatures as the stock pan under all driving conditions, 198°-201°.

Customer Question I have a 2014 Ford F-150. Does this pan fit with rci skid plates? I know there is some space between the stock pan and the plates but I don't know if it is enough to accommodate the bigger pan. Any help you can provide would be great

Customer Answer It will not. aFe's pan drops down significantly more than stock and won't clear RCI's transmission skid plate.

Customer Answer It is not. The transmission pan hangs down too far for RCI's transmission skid.

Customer Question Someone on the you tube video recently said that the filter extension didn't fit their 2013 Ford F150 stock filter. I have a 2013 F150 with a 5.0. I am wanting to know if this filter extension fits the stock filter which is motorcraft FT-188.

Customer Answer The extension is designed to fit with the stock Motorcraft transmission filter, and you should not have issues. Whether it fits with OES/economy brand filters, we can't 100% guarantee.

Customer Question Is there a benefit to using this pan as opposed to the raw pan? Or is appearance the only difference?

Customer Answer The powder coated pan is a bit more resistant to corrosion, but since they're both cast aluminum anyway, they aren't going to suffer from much corrosion to begin with. Still, it's something to consider if you're in an area that uses salt in the winters.

Customer Answer That was actually a mistake on my part. The pan does include an extension for the filter's inlet side to reach the lower parts of the pan.

Customer Question What is the increase in the amount of oil this pan holds? So what would be the total capacity? Thanks.

Customer Answer The pan increases fluid capacity by 7 quarts. In general, total transmission fluid capacity is between 12 and 13 quarts, so you get a total of 19-20 quarts of total capacity. However, when you do a fluid change on a stock transmission, you generally only change around 7 to 8 quarts of fluid out of the pan, since the torque converter and other transmission components hold in fluid. We recommend checking the fluid dipstick repeatedly while filling your transmission with the new pan installed.

Customer Answer According to aFe, while this pan fits most 6R80 transmission applications, they have not personally tested it on 2011-2016 Expeditions as of yet and couldn't 100% guarantee fitment.

Customer Question What kind of temp stability/cooling might be expected using this pan w/full skid plates? I tow a 10,000lb Wolf Pack Camper at 7,000-10,000ft+ on road, 50-75mph mostly but always end up finding a 1/2 - 3 mile trail to put home base. Cooling the trans at low speeds off road has been a balancing act. Are there any other products you'd suggest?

Customer Answer You should still see a drop in transmission temperatures with this kit just from the increased oil capacity alone, even if a portion of it is covered by skid plates. You may not see as dramatic as a drop as some some of our other customers, however. The only thing you could feasibly add is an aftermarket transmission cooler, though I'm not sure there's anything out there specific to the F150s.

Customer Question I bought a few things from you guy, I'm interested on this item, but before I buy it. Removing old pan of course all tran oil will be removed, what oil should I replace it with? They told me royal purple was good. And what's 6R80? Thank you.

Customer Answer aFe recommends using stock spec Ford Motorcraft ATF, but that's entirely up to you. "6R80" refers to your truck's 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission.

Customer Question i have a ford ecoboost f150 year 2011. there is no info on what comes with this pan. as in filter, gasket, stainless allen head bolts for installation? was wondering about thias.. thank you for your time

Customer Answer The pan comes with a new O-ring gasket. You'd reuse your stock filter or new OE-replacement. Bolts we're not sure of yet. Hopefully we'll learn some more once these things get ready to ship out.

Customer Answer These pans haven't hit the streets yet, so real-world reactions aren't available. Honestly, a competent dealership probably wouldn't give you too hard a time about it, especially if you actually need it for heavy towing applications or anything else that generates fairly high transmission temperatures. Still, it's down to individual dealerships, and they run the gamut from fairly lenient to annoyingly strict when it comes to aftermarket hardware. It's best to talk to your service advisor and see what kind of leeway they'll give for bolt-on mods like this pan.

Customer Question This pan looks great. Am I still able to check the fluid from under the truck using the little stupid fitting that Ford engineers used in lieu of a traditional dipstick? Thanks!

Customer Answer The pan does not come with a sight glass or a level plug, so you'd only be able to use the factory dipstick for level checks.
