The good news is that there's more F150 roof rack options than ever for the 2015-2022 F150s, with a bunch of good options to help you carry and haul whatever gear or oversized cargo you have in mind. Per usual, because there's so many roof rack options, it can be a bit difficult to find the roof rack that fits your budget or your F150 or Raptor's application or need. That's why we put together this hand guide so that you can find the perfect roof rack kit for what you're trying to do.

2015-2022 F150 Roof Racks

Best Budget Roof Rack for 2015-2022 F150s

If you're strapped for cash, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to go without a great roof-rack solution that can help you and your truck out. One of the best budget-friendly roof rack kits for the 2015-2022 F150s is the Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 Roof Rack Kit. The Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 System includes a full set of clamp-on feet that's paired with two Rhino Rack Vortex crossbars that allow you to carry a good amount of cargo that's compatible with crossbars. The Rhino Rack 2500 Vortex Roof Rack Kit won't break your bank and it's also not permanently attached to your F150's roof, which allows you to completely remove the rack when you're not using it. The bad news is that the crossbars can't do much on their own. While the crossbars can hold general containers or can be used to tie down fairly large items, they don't come with any specific cargo carrying accessories or baskets, which can limit your options. While Rhino Rack does have an absolute ton of baskets and trays, specialty cargo upgrades, and accessories that are compatible with the Vortex bars, adding them on to create a more robust rack gets pricey and can defeat the purpose if you're looking for a budget-friendly option.

Roof racks get pretty pricey in a hurry, but there's still a few options that are feature-rich without causing too much of a hit in the ol' wallet. The Fab Fours Semi-Universal Roof Racks are complete roof rack systems that bolt onto your F150's roof and feature a rugged construction and a basket-shaped design that makes it ready to hold all sorts of cargo right out of the box. Fab Fours offers a 48" roof rack, 60" roof rack, and 72"roof rack so that any cab size can get a bump in roof cargo capacity and capability. The bad news is that these roof racks do require drilling into your F150's roof, and since this roof rack is a semi-universal design, you'll have to be really careful when deciding placement. The Fab Fours roof racks are also pretty tall, which can potentially be a problem if you're already tight on space in your garage (or even if you're not all that tight on space). Still, the Fab Fours roof racks are some of the better roof rack packages that are ready to go for most cargo and gear right out of the box.

2015-2022 F150 Fab Fours Roof Racks

Best Overall Roof Rack for 2015-2022 F150s

While both Rhino Rack's crossbar racks and Fab Four's Universal Racks are great in their own ways, but they both have some flaws that our overall pick either doesn't have, or has a lot less of. The 2009-2022 F150 SuperCrew Front Runner Low Profile Slimline II Roof Rack is arguably one of the best roof rack options on the market for F150s, though it does come with a pretty hefty price tag. The Low Profile Slimline II roof rack bolts into your F150's roof and requires drilling, but unlike the Fab Fours racks, the Front Runner Rack comes with vehicle-specific mounting brackets that give you a much better and cleaner fit. The Low Profile Slimline II also has a much lower profile than both the Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 systems and the Fab Fours Roof Racks, which is extremely handy if you're tight on garage space. The Slimline II rack also comes with a platform that makes it ready to accept most cargo and gear out of the box, though the platform doesn't have sides, so you may need additional hardware and accessories depending on what items you're carrying. The Slimline II tray comes with built-in T-slots on its crossbars so that you can add all sorts of T-slot compatible accessories to your roof rack system. The big downside to the Front Runner Rack is price. It's definitely on the higher-priced side of things, but you do get a lot for that price tag. However, you still may need a additional accessories depending on your cargo, which can drive the price up even further. Also, since this rack requires drilling, it can't exactly be removed easily for either resale or for the daily grind.
