We here at Stage 3 Motorsports got in touch with our good friends over at JBA Performance Exhaust to put together a few excellent combination kits that bring together some of JBA's best exhaust products to get massive horsepower and thunderous sound out of your Mustang. Since long tube headers require a new mid-pipe anyway, why not just get both of them together? Each JBA combination kit gives you the choice of JBA Mustang long tube headers and a choice of a matching JBA mid-pipe to practically guarantee flawless fitment and to save you a boatload of money over buying your headers and mid-pipe separately.
Each JBA Combo pack begins with a set of their long tube headers. Long tubes have the potential to add tons of horsepower on to your Mustang's total output by creating a more efficient outlet for your exhaust than the restrictive factory manifolds. Long tube headers are especially effective on forced induction applications (Mustangs with superchargers and turbochargers), because exhaust gasses are more quickly forced from the cylinder allowing air to be forced in at a faster, more effective rate. Each header is manufactured out of high-quality stainless steel with mandrel-bent primary tubes that provide for smooth and back pressure free exhaust outflow. The primary tubes have oversized exhaust ports and attach to a heavy-duty 3/8'' flange that's CNC laser cut to guarantee flawless fitment onto your Mustang's engine. The primary tubes lead down into the header's collector that contains JBA's patented FIRECONE velocity spike that helps the exiting exhaust gasses maintain their velocity when passing through the collector housing to maintain outflow efficiency. JBA's headers have the option to come with a standard stainless steel finish or one of JBA's heat and corrosion resistant ceramic coatings at an additional cost. All of JBA's headers come with installation hardware, new exhaust port gaskets, and oxygen sensor extension harnesses.
Long tube headers require custom tuning, because long tubes cause your engine to run too lean, which may cause permanent engine damage. A ''lean'' condition occurs when there's more air in the cylinders than can actually be burned, and more fuel is required. Stage 3's custom tuning corrects the situation and using one of our custom tunes also qualifies your for the Stage 3 Motorsports Loyalty Tunes Program that will give you free tunes for life on many tunable products that you purchase from Stage 3 Motorsports. For instance, if you were to purchase a BBK cold air intake with custom tuning for 2011 to 2013 Mustang GTs, and then bought JBA's 2011 to 2013 header and mid-pipe combination kit later, Stage 3 would send you a new tune that takes into account the uprated performance of the JBA exhaust package to give you all of the horsepower and torque possible.
Each JBA long tube header requires a matching shortened mid-pipe for proper fitment. Because of their increased length, long tube headers actually displace your stock mid-pipe and force you to use an aftermarket version. JBA has four versions of their mid-pipes that come in either h-pipe or x-pipe configurations and are either catted or off-road. Both x-pipes and h-pipes resemble their respective letters of the alphabet and generate slightly different exhaust tones. H-pipes give your Mustang an old-school muscle car rumble while x-pipes tend to have a little bit more of that race car rasp. Theoretically, x-pipes will get you slightly more horsepower over your standard h-pipe, due to the fact that it has smoother curves without sharp joints, but the difference between pipe configurations from the same brand is hardly noticeable. Then we have catted and off-road pipes. Catted pipes have built-in, high flow catalytic converters that allow for more efficient exhaust flow than the restrictive factory catalytic converters. Off-road mid-pipes delete that catalytic converters entirely for the most horsepower and torque possible, but are for off-road, competition use only. Catted mid-pipes do not meet California Air Resources Board pollution guidelines and are not for use on street vehicles in California or any other state that's adopted CARB air quality guidelines. These mid-pipes allow you to use your factory cat-back system and will also accept most other aftermarket cat-back and axle-back exhaust kits.
Tons of spare horsepower and torque, topped off with improved throttle response and better fuel mileage is all well and good, but the best part of these new JBA combo packages are their prices. A combination package can save you around $30 than if you order the headers and mid-pipe separately. For instance, the JBA 2013 GT Combo kit will run you $799.99 for standard stainless steel headers and an off-road x-pipe. The headers alone cost $579.95 and the x-pipe costs $249.95 cor a grand total of $829.90. If you're anything like us over here at Stage 3 Motorsports, then saving a few bucks is a top priority next to horsepower, torque, and lateral gee.
