HP Tuners RTD Flasher Instructions (Via Windows PC)

Most Applications Will Use This Method

Note: Wi-Fi is required to read and write to your vehicle. Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection and that your Windows laptop (required) battery is charged or connected to a power source.

Download RTD Flasher Software

Steps to Read Your Vehicle:

  1. Open the RTD Flasher software after installation.
  2. Connect your RTD/RTD+ device to your vehicle's OBDII port.
  3. Use the provided USB cable to connect the RTD/RTD+ device to your computer.
  4. Turn your vehicle to the "ON" position (push-button vehicles: press once without pressing the brake).
  5. Select the "Read Vehicle" option (book icon with green arrow) in the RTD Flasher software.
  6. Click "Gather Information" after selecting "Read Vehicle."
  7. For vehicles with multiple modules:
    • Single module: Ensure "Read Entire" is selected.
    • Two modules (engine and transmission): Select "Read Entire" for both.
  8. Verify the correct settings and select "Read." This process may take up to 20 minutes.
  9. Follow on-screen prompts to cycle the key if required during the process.
  10. Save the file with an easy-to-find name (e.g., FirstName LastName stockfile) on your desktop.
  11. Email the saved stock file to: [email protected].

Note: If you have not submitted your vehicle information and tune selection, complete the Calibration Request Form.

Steps to Write Tunes to Your Vehicle:

  1. Download your received tunes to an easy-to-find location on your computer.
  2. Connect your RTD/RTD+ device to the OBDII port and your computer.
  3. Open RTD Flasher and select "Help" > "Resync Interface" to add vehicle credits.
  4. Click "Close" after resyncing, then select "File" > "Open File" to load your tune file.
  5. Turn the key to the "ON" position without starting the vehicle.
  6. Click the "Write" icon (book icon with red arrow) beside the "Read" icon.
  7. Select "Show License," specify the controllers, and commit to the license.
  8. Ensure all dropdowns are set to "Write Calibration," then click "Write."
  9. Follow on-screen prompts to cycle the key, and wait for the "Flash Completed" message.

What Is the Process With PCM-F0-MG1-U?

HP Tuners offers an upgrade service for the MG1 PCM found in 2021-2022 Ford F-150 trucks with 3.5L and 2.7L EcoBoost V6 or 5.0L V8 engines. This service enables full functionality of VCM Suite software custom tuning using an RTD+ or newer generation interface. The original PCM must be removed from the truck and sent to HP Tuners for servicing. After upgrading, the PCM will support tuning, logging, and scanning through the OBDII port.

Important Notes:

  • This service is required to tune 2021-2022 F-150s with the MG1CS036 PCM using VCM Editor.
  • The original PCM must be removed and shipped to HP Tuners for servicing.
  • Servicing requires 1-3 business days (excluding shipping times).
  • PCMs with broken tabs or connectors will not be accepted. Handle with care when removing.
  • The service upgrades your PCM for tuning; it does not reprogram for a different VIN.
  • Only fully functional PCMs with no physical or internal damage will be accepted.
  • No other tuning or calibration tools can be used with the upgraded PCM.

How It Works:

  1. Confirm your vehicle’s support (2021-2022 F-150 with MG1CS036 PCM).
  2. Purchase this service. After placing your order, you will receive an email with shipping details and a shipping form.
  3. Carefully remove your PCM and securely package it with the completed shipping form.
  4. Write your order number on the outside of the box and ship the PCM to HP Tuners using your preferred carrier.
  5. HP Tuners will upgrade your PCM for tuning and ship it back to you (return shipping is included in checkout costs).
  6. Reinstall your upgraded PCM into your vehicle and begin tuning—no relearns or reprogramming required as long as the PCM returns to the same vehicle.
