The Magnaflow Turn-Down Cat-Back Exhaust Kit for the 2011 to 2014 F150 EcoBoosts is a deceptive little thing. At first glance, you think it's going to be this loud, ungodly obnoxious system that will make your driving your truck kind of miserable experience. Looks are deceiving, however. The Turn-Down kit is actually extremely mellow, with just enough rumble and volume to let everyone know you have something special going on with your aggressive F150. The kit's turn-down styling also gives the F150 EcoBoosts an extremely unique and clean look that you just don't see every day. The Magnaflow Turn-Down cat-back kit is pretty awesome all-around, and is by far the easiest system we've yet installed on our 2011 F150 EcoBoost Project Truck. The kit is a great choice for anyone that wants a more subtle and refined look and sound for their truck.
Given that we needed to film and photograph this install, we put the dirty work in the hands of the guys down at Extreme Performance down in Goodyear, Arizona, specifically those of Kris and Aaron who were there to help us out. The first step of our install was to get our current cat-back off the truck. If you want to see how to remove the stock cat-back, check out our F150 EcoBoost Solo Mach-X Cat-Back Install Guide. You'll do everything except remove the resonator pipe assembly.
Because we actually removed our stock resonator for an earlier install, we had to reinstall it for the proper fitment of the Magnaflow kit. Aaron bolted back up to the truck straight away.
Once the resonator pipe was back on the truck, Aaron and Kris slipped some clamps on and hooked together the two Magnaflow intermediate pipes and fit on our forward exhaust mount onto the kit's hangar.
Next, Kris installed the Turn-Down Kit's muffler assembly into the intermediate pipe outlet.
The last piece of this kit is the turn-down style tip that installs right onto the muffler outlet. Kris slipped a clam onto it before installing it into the muffler outlet.
Aaron then bolted the forward exhaust hangar back onto our truck's frame.
While Aaron was tackling the forward hangar, Kris grabbed the hangar coming off the muffler and fit through the upper bed rail mount and bolted it back to the truck.
With everything more or less in place, all that was left for Kris and Aaron to do was tighten all of the kit's clamps.
Once all the clamps were tightened down, our Magnaflow Turn-Down Kit install was complete.
