Hey 2017+ Raptor owners, this is the can you need. A true plug and play component. Very easy to install and suggested location is easily accessed for draining contaminated fluids that accumulate in the can. Awesome product. I got clear finish to add some silver to the very black engine compartment.

The installation is pretty straight forward and other than getting the turbo tube off to drill fairly easy. The underside of the engine cover much be trimned a little to accommodate the hoses that go to the catch can, but that is easily done being it is made of foam. The can fits well and all the components are high quality. I added a drain hose to make it easier to drain.

Straight forward install, took 45 min or so. Real nice looking catch can, quality made and hoses are so nice, they look stock. Have about 1500 miles since install, not hard miles just normal with occasional hard starts. Just checked and maybe 1/4 oz of oil came out. Worth it? hard to say but maybe the more miles put on. I average 75k-150k till sell or trade, so time will tell

Installation was about 2 hours but I was in no rush. Directions were simple to follow. Just take your time and be sure to not make a mistake with the proper hose connections to the catch can from the intake. Have not drained it yet but wish it came with a short hose on the outlet side to make draining it easier. My only gripe.

Quality product, easy install. Make sure you remove the intake pipe before cutting the WOT hole. The video is crazy to make that hole without removing the pipe. 1000 miles on, no problem and tested the drain to see if any oil would come out. A little did so it must be doing it's job.

Install took about an hour. Would definitely recommend you remove the WOT tube before you drill to make sure that no bits enter the engine, although it does add 15 minutes or so. Very high quality parts, everything fit nicely, and it looks good. Very satisfied.

I purchased this catch can recently. Upon opening the box, I found 3 hoses and a 3 way valve, no nipple and grommet for the WOT. All videos show drilling a hole in the passenger side turbo inlet tube. Well, after contacting UPR I learned that the 3 way valve attaches to the drivers side turbo inlet tube, no drilling. Very easy installation.

Great design and well built. Location is difficult to get to to empty. I'd suggest making an extension tube that allows for drainage down below. Video instructions don't show the newer intake tube that was redesigned for 2018 but the location is the same, for the WOT plug. Overall well designed and a definite requirement for any modern DI motor.

Customer Question I have a 2020 3.5TT, I put a AFE cold air kit on it and dint have any issues until recently where I'm getting a PCV engine code, would the catch can help that? I saw the ECSS on the 15-16 but idk what to do. I still want a catch can.

Asked by: Tom M - 5/23/2024
Customer Answer We could not guarantee that a catch can will resolve a check engine light on the PCV system. Best thing is to diagnose the cel and make sure it's not just a simple vacuum leak before you start trying to buy parts to resolve.

Customer Question I understand that the billet check valves are an upgrade over the standard valves. What about them is an upgrade? Functionally, what do they do better than the standard valves? Or is this more for appearance if I was building a show truck or wanted to "pretty up" my engine bay a little bit?

Asked by: RyanSinTX - 5/20/2024
Customer Answer Billet aluminum is more corrosion resistant compared to standard material so a longer life would also be expected out of them.

Asked by: Brandon Yates - 5/12/2024
Customer Answer The kit can be installed without the ECSS and the kit will not cause a check engine light. If you did want to add the ECSS, you can put part number 5043-221-1 in the search box and order it up as well.

Customer Question I’m purchasing a 2019 f-150 limited that has the HO ecoboost/raptor engine. I want to have this thing living and breathing for a long time, so I’m looking at catch cans. Do I need the WOT catch can, it’s just going to be a cruiser and don’t see this necessary. Thanks.

Asked by: Acollonel - 12/19/2021
Customer Answer While the Pre-drilled WOT inlet tube isn't required, for proper function, the catch can does need a WOT fitting, which will requiring drilling into your truck's inlet pipe if you don't order the pre-drilled pipe.

Customer Question My 2016 f150 was made late year and has AWD option. Would I use the 2017 catch can or the 2016? When I did my lift I had to use a '17 kit. I am unsure of the differences in the catch cans.

Asked by: Tommy McQueeney - 9/21/2021
Customer Answer The difference has to do with the engine changes made between 2016 and 2017 on the 3.5L EcoBoosts, mostly due to the switch to dual fuel and a slightly different layout for 2017. If you have a 2016 model, you'll need to order the 2016 version of the catch can.

Customer Answer 2017 F150 3.5L EcoBoosts should all have 2nd gen motors with dual fueling. This kit will fit those trucks. If your truck has a 1st gen motor with only direct injection, then this kit will likely not work on your truck.

Customer Question What is the purpose of the WOT Line?

Asked by: ANDREW - 1/26/2020
Customer Answer Since the can operates on vaccuum and the Raptors are turbocharged (and create positive pressure), the WOT line generates vacuum no matter how much throttle (or boost pressure) your Raptor is outputting, ensuring that the can is functioning more optimally over a wider range of conditions.

Customer Question What's the point of the wot tube on your catch can? Other catch cans dont have that hose so I was curious what does having actually do for you

Asked by: Fatman4life - 8/3/2019
Customer Answer Blow-by is only drawn into the can during vacuum, so at open throttle where you have positive pressure in the intake tract, you're not drawing in blow-by and oil already collected in the can can be pulled back out. The WOT tube always ensures there's a vacuum condition in the can so that it's more effective.

Customer Question Will this eliminate any of the oil that is pulled into the intercooler from the drivers side of engine bay on 2018 models? Will this help with (4%) fuel dilution issues in engine oil? Guaranteed not to throw Check Engine Lights?

Asked by: Calvin - 11/11/2018
Customer Answer This catch can captures PCV oil blow-by from both the driver and passenger's side PCV. It won't necessarily help with fuel dilution, due to the fact that fuel dilation is not necessarily due to the PCV. This catch can will not throw a check engine light or code with a proper installation.

Customer Answer This can has a more efficient percolator, pulls PCV from both sides of the motor, and has a WOT line to capture during non-vacuum conditions. The JLT can is a more basic can, whose principle advantage is its price and easier install.

Customer Question How often do you need to empty the can? Also since this catches oil and doesn't go back into the oil pan, do you need to regularly add oil?

Asked by: Garrett - 5/13/2018
Customer Answer Emptying intervals can vary greatly depending on climate. Your best bet would be to start out emptying the can at every fuel stop so that you can get a baseline idea about how much gunk you're actually catching. The amount of actual oil that ends up in the can is actually pretty small, with most of the liquid captured is atmospheric moisture and condensation. You should not have to refill your truck's oil due to the operation of the catch can.

Customer Question I installed the UPR dual valve oil catch can on my 2017 3.5L EB F-150 about 3 months ago. I opened the valve this morning, and not a drop of liquid drained out. I drove about 1800 miles with no check engine lights, and the truck runs perfect. Is this normal?

Asked by: Jeff - 2/20/2018
Customer Answer The amount of blow-by generated varies greatly truck-to-truck, and the atmospheric moisture collected by these cans can also vary wildly climate-to-climate. That being said, 1800 miles without anything is a little odd, so you may want to check and see that everything is installed properly and that the check valves are facing the correct directions.

Customer Question I have had this can for almost 7 months and is working great with no CEL's. However, it is a pain to drain. The end of the drain valve has threads and I as wondering this. Do you all make a barbed nozzle to thread into this or can you give me the thread pitch so I can find one that works? That way I can get a rubber hose, connect on the barbed nozzle and drain directly into my drain pain. Thanks.

Asked by: Tyler - 2/19/2018
Customer Answer I do not have specs on the valve itself, however, according to UPR, this can uses a 1/4" NPT for its drain hole, so finding a replacement valve that can fit rubber/silicone/braided tubing should not be overly difficult.

Customer Question Purchased Installed, capture material amount in unbelieveable. But why was it necessary to drill/install the WOT line?

Asked by: Dave Whitelaw - 2/6/2018
Customer Answer Due to the fact that the EcoBoost trucks are turbocharged, they don't naturally produce vacuum 100% of time, which is how the can draws oil vapor out of the PCVs. The WOT line installs before the turbochargers so that there's always a vacuum condition to draw in oil vapor and other moisture.

Customer Question The second gen 3.5L ecoboost fuel injection system is a dual, port/direct injection system. I understand that a port fuel injection system 'washes' the intake valve whereas a direct fuel injection system does not and if I understand correctly, there in lies the problem of coking on the valves. Since the second gen 3.5L ecoboost appears to have the ability to wash the valves, how does adding this catch can system improve and prevent the problem any better? Thank you

Asked by: Michael - 6/23/2017
Customer Answer While valve coking is less of an issue on the 2017 F150 3.5L EcoBoosts due to their dual-fuel systems, they can still suffer from PCV blow-by causing intercooler pooling which leads to moisture ingestion, octane degradation, and coating/coking of the rest of your truck's intake system which the UPR can helps to prevent.
