Before You Buy: Off-Road Light Mounting Options For 2020-2022 Super Dutys

An easy, cheap, and practical upgrade to 2020-2022 F250 or F350 Super Dutys is to add some off-road lights. The thing about adding these lights is that there are a few places you can throw them on your Super Duty. Each of these locations serve a different purpose and offers their own unique mounts. These locations are Fog Light Mounts, A-Pillar Mounts, Bumper Mounts, and Rear Mounts. Adding some LED Lights on the proper mount makes installation so much easier and also makes off-roading that much safer because it greatly increases your overall visibility to make it easier to avoid previously unseen obstacles. Adding the right set of lights also makes some tasks ten times easier at night such as attaching the trailer, tailgating, setting up camp, or anything that needs to be done after hours on the job site. Let's take a deeper dive into the different off-road light mounting options that we have available here at Stage 3 Motorsports.

Fog Light Mounts For 2020-2022 Super Dutys

First and foremost to look at is upgrading your stock Fog Lights with some upgraded ones. Most of these kits come with something that makes it easy to just sort of reuse the stock fog light location which makes installation that much quicker. An example of this is the 2020-2022 F250 & F350 Baja Designs LED Dual Fog Light Pocket Kit (SAE Amber/ Pro White) (seen below). This kit is created to make serious use of the factory fog pocket location by having it hold two of Baja Design's signature squadron lights on each side. At the center of this kit is a newly released amber SAE compliant fog light on the outside that is controlled by your truck's factory fog switch. All of the lights included include built-in overvoltage protection, IP69K Waterproof rating, and are also IK10 compliant. For installation purposes, Baja Designs also includes sturdy and durable stainless steel mounting brackets. A-Pillar Mounts For 2020-2022 Super Dutys

The next area to take a look at mounting some awesome off-road lights is the A-Pillar. The A-Pillar is a part of the Super Duty that helps to keep the windshield in place and is found just underneath the left and right flank of the part of your hood that is closest to your tow mirrors. Installing these using the proper brackets usually means no drilling, cutting, or welding of any kind. One set of brackets to take a look at would be the 2017-2022 F250 & F350 Morimoto 4Banger A-Pillar Brackets. Though they pair perfectly with and are created for Morimoto's 4Banger LED pods, these superior A-Pillar brackets are compatible with LED pods from most other brands including Baja Designs, KC Hi-Lites, Rigid Industries, and Diode Dynamics. How it works is, It utilizes your Super Duty's pre-existing mounting points which helps to create a secure fitment that is easy to install. Each bracket is laser cut from 304 stainless steel, then powder coated for long-lasting protection. Similar to the fog light brackets above, you can choose to get just the brackets or you can select a package that includes the brackets and a nice set of Morimoto 4Banger lights. With these lights, you can choose between yellow or white lights and after selecting color you can choose between spot, wide, or combo beam. A spot beam means it is perfect for illuminating well into the distance. The NCS Spot features a highly focused 5-degree hot spot that's surrounded by a 14H x 4C degree flood beam, making it the perfect weapon for long-range visibility. A wide beam means it is perfect for illuminating a clear path right in front of the vehicle. Which makes it a perfect companion to a set of really powerful aftermarket headlights. Lastly, a combo beam is perfect for illuminating a clear path with medium range. As previously stated, you can also select what color your lights are each have their own perks. For example, the white output is perfect for all-around visibility and a yellow output is perfect for illuminating well into the distance. No matter what combination you choose, it includes the bracket which makes it that much easier to get it installed and get you on your way.

Bumper LED Light Mounts For 2020-2022 Super Dutys

This section is pretty self-explanatory as far as where they mount. That being said it is important to note that this is mainly for adding lights to the stock bumper or a bumper that does not already have provisions to mount LED lights. One product to look at for this would be the 2020-2022 F250 & F350 Baja Designs 7 XL Linkable Upfitter Light Kit if your truck comes with a factory upfitter. At the core of this kit is the powder-coated cast aluminum housing that looks sharp when mounted. Directly on top of the lights themselves are hard coated polycarbonate front lenses that help defend the lights from random road debris. This light kit also exceeds MIL-STD810G testing standards and is IK10 Compliant, on top of all of those safety and durability standards it is also waterproof and includes built-in over-voltage protection. Baja Designs also created these lights with replaceable lenses and optics and CopperDrive which means the lights are only LED Driven at one hundred percent power. Also included is everything needed for a quick and fairly easy installation process. It also includes a harness that is also a toggle switch that is specifically designed for those Super Dutys that do have the factory upfitters that other trim packages may offer. Rear Off-Road Light Mounts For 2020-2022 Super Dutys

Last but certainly not least is mounts for the rear of your Super Duty. These mounts will certainly come in handy if you are looking for more when attaching a trailer, on the job site late at night, or even camping. It's important to note with this kit that it will not interfere with the stock hitch but you could potentially have an issue with aftermarket or weight distribution hitches. That being said the lights there included are IP69 Waterproof rated which means they should be good for depths up to 3 meters. So if you are launching a boat for example and your bumper goes under the water for just a bit you should be in good shape.
