The 2010-2015 Taurus SHO already has a reputation for being a surprisingly quick sedan thanks to its twin turbo 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Even so, there is still a lot of performance waiting to be unlocked. The Phase 1 Performance Package is designed to bring that hidden potential to life with a simple and effective combination of airflow improvements and custom tuning. Together, these upgrades help the SHO feel sharper, quicker, and more responsive when you step on the throttle. Acceleration becomes more immediate, the engine pulls harder through the rev range, and the car feels far more eager when merging onto the highway or rolling into boost during a spirited drive. It is a straightforward upgrade that gives the SHO a stronger personality without sacrificing everyday drivability.
AIRAID Cold Air Intake for Better Turbo Breathing
Helping the EcoBoost engine breathe more efficiently is the AIRAID MXP cold air intake system. Turbocharged engines rely heavily on consistent airflow, and the factory intake can become restrictive when the turbos start demanding more air. AIRAID addresses this by replacing the factory air box and intake components with a more efficient setup designed to pull in cooler outside air. The system features a roto molded air box that seals against the hood to help protect the filter from engine heat. Inside that enclosure sits AIRAID’s premium reusable air filter, which uses multiple layers of filtration media to capture contaminants while still allowing strong airflow into the intake tract. The increased airflow helps the twin turbos spool more efficiently, which can lead to noticeable improvements in throttle response, horsepower, and torque. It is also a long term upgrade since the filter can be cleaned and reused instead of replaced.
SCT X4 Tuner with 5-Star Custom Performance Tunes
Once the engine is breathing better, the SCT X4 tuner paired with 5-Star custom tuning brings the full performance potential of the SHO to the surface. The handheld X4 connects to the car’s OBD-II port and allows the factory ECU calibration to be replaced with performance focused tuning. These custom tunes adjust boost pressure, ignition timing, fuel delivery, and transmission behavior so the engine can make significantly more horsepower and torque while still maintaining reliability. The changes are noticeable right away, especially in the way the car accelerates and carries power through the gears. The X4 itself is easy to use and features a bright full color display with simple menu navigation. In addition to loading tunes, it can monitor engine data, read and clear diagnostic codes, and datalog performance information. That means it becomes a useful tool long after the initial installation, giving you both improved performance and a convenient way to keep an eye on how your SHO is running.

How our EcoBoost Custom Tuning Works
Stage 3's 5-Star Custom Tuning Step-by-Step: 1. You place your order for 5-Star's Custom Tunes.
2. Stage 3 sends you a
"blank" tuner without custom tunes.
3. You hook the tuner into your truck and pull its
ECU strategy code. 4. You fill out our
online tune form with the information from your truck and its strategy code.
5. If your truck has Ford's latest strategy updates, we'll forward your information over to 5-Star and get your tunes created.
6. Once 5-Star creates your tunes, you will be emailed a link to download them from our Google Drive.
7. Download 5-Star's tunes to your PC and then load them to your tuning device using SCT's Device Updater Software.
8. Now you can successfully load your 5-Star Custom Tune of choice into your SHO.
After you order this system, you are sent a "blank" tuner without any custom tunes. Please be aware that SCT's devices and software are only compatible with Microsoft Windows computers, and will not work with Mac OS X, Linux, or other operating systems. Once the tunes are successfully loaded onto the tuner, you can then start to load your tunes into your truck.
