Customer Question So I just submitted the form for the 3 custom tunes(can’t wait). My question is, once I upgrade my exhaust and intercooler(stock now), how do I go about getting a custom tune for that scenario? I’ve already upgraded turbo (put on form), just can’t afford to do the rest at this time. So will I need to buy another custom tune after the upgrades? Thanks

Customer Answer We offer lifetime tunes on our 5 star custom tuning. As long as the new parts are purchased from us or 5 star tuning, you can fill out our retune form and have the tunes adjusted for the new parts at no cost. It's a smaller version of the initial custom tuning form.

Customer Question if i have the sct livewire that has a custom tune to delete my truck. Can i take it off and install it to someone elses truck if i want to restore my truck to stock?

Customer Answer In general, no. The custom tunes are generally locked to either a PCM/ECU strategy code or VIN. The other truck would at least have to have the same PCM strategy, but even that may not be enough. Your best bet would be to contact your custom tuner.

Customer Question Would love to buy the sct 5015p tuner but you say you can’t write a custom tune if dpf and egr are deleted?? Also have a non vgt turbo... is it possible to write a custom tune for this?

Customer Answer Neither 5-Star nor SCT will tune for EGR or DPF deletes. 5-Star can tune for certain aftermarket turbochargers, though they would need to know the flow rates.

Customer Question Is this tuner meant to Delete DPF and turn off the EGr? Looking into this monitor and tunes as a start point in my soon to be pull truck, custom tunes to be added at a later date when I up the HP some more

Customer Answer This device cannot tune for EGR or DPF deletes, nor can 5-Star and Stage 3 provide tuning for EGR or DPF Deletes.

Customer Question Are any of the 5 tunes just a plain E*R and D*F tune? My truck is a 2011 F250 XLT 162,031 miles. I don't think the factory turbo can handle a lot of Horsepower. Also does the transmission need to be upgraded with a custom tuner?

Customer Answer 5-Star's custom tuning is meant for trucks that still have their stock EGRs and DPFs present. 5-Star's tuning takes into account the stock turbocharger. The factory transmissions of the 2011-2016 6.7Ls can handle a good amount of power without upgrades, however, if your truck does have quite a few miles on it, then you'll want to at least make sure your maintenance is up to date and your fluids have been changed fairly recently.

Customer Question Interested in this tuner for my 2012 f350 srw 6.7 with 43k miles. My truck is bone stock besides a Cai and 35s.i know this will tune a non deleted truck,which is plan to keep mine undelete, but if I decided to go deleted in the future, can I have this tuner reprogrammed for that? I don't want to have to buy another tuner if I decide to delete the truck someday.

Customer Answer The SCT Livewire TS+ included here can hold up to 10 custom tunes. While 5-Star tuning nor Stage 3 will tune for DPF delete, you do have the option of finding a different SCT tuner that will custom tune for a delete, if you choose.

Customer Question If I just get this package with the custom tunes. Are they the same custom tunes as the package with the air intake and exhaust? If not when I add the air intake or exhaust later do you update the custom tunes?

Customer Answer The custom tunes will be more or less the same between the two. The only real benefit of the package versus the tuning device and custom tunes alone is that you get an intake and DPF-back at a lower price than purchased separately, and a slight drop in EGTs.

Customer Question Does the SCT Livewire need to remain plugged into the ODBII port once the computer has been programmed or is that necessary only for real time engine monitoring? I want to tune my 6.7L diesel, but do not want the monitor on my dash after I tune it. Thanks, Josh

Customer Answer The Livewire does not need to stay plugged in to use the tuning. Once the tuning is completely uploaded and the device is done with the upload process, you can unplug it from the OBD-II port. The new files are uploaded and stored on your truck's PCM, not streamed from the device. If you're not going to be using the tuners monitoring abilities at all, then you may want to look into our slightly less expensive X4 with 5-Star Custom Tuning instead.

Customer Question i have a 2013 ford f-350 diesel. does this void any warranty on the truck? if so can it taken off before going to the dealer for service

Customer Answer PCM tuning can absolutely result in Powertrain repairs not being covered under your factory Powertrain Warranty, effectively rendering it voided. Returning the vehicle to stock is not guaranteed to eliminate evidence that your truck was tuned.

Customer Question Is this tuner shift on the fly? And 100% works on 2014 f350? I have seen this tuner advertised to run 11-14 but read the description and it said 11-12 or something. It didn't include 14 year model. Just want to make sure before I buy.

Customer Answer Super Dutys up to the 2014 are supported, however, the tuner is not currently capable of shift-on-the-fly tuning at this time.

Customer Answer Absolutely not. We have neither tuners or exhaust kits that allow you to remove your Diesel Particulate Filter do to both CARB and EPA restrictions. Sorry.
