Awesome tuner for those that don't want to go the delete route. I've been running the performance tune the past month and love it. I'm getting about 1.5 mpg better in the city and 3 mpg better on highway. Shifting is great and the added power/torque is even better. Can spin my 35 tires at 50 mph getting on the highway. I haven't used the tow tune yet but I'm sure it'll be great too. I also added a cold air intake to help and the guys at 5 Star have great service.

Great tune. I've been running the performance tune the and love it. I'm getting about 10% to 15% mpg better. Shifting is great and the added power/torque is even better.

Customer Question Can I still tow small loads while running performance tune? If so what is the Max tow recommended?

Asked by: Tylerw25 - 12/30/2020
Customer Answer We generally don't recommend it, due to EGT concerns. You could probably get away with something like an empty car/flat trailer or something with a few bags of mulch in it. Unfortunately, we don't have a set limit, since there's a wide variation in EGT generation between trucks. If you are going to tow with the performance tune, keep it light and monitor your EGTs extremely carefully.

Customer Question I am putting my shopping cart together and trying to see if this is the right unit for me. 2015 F250 4X4 6.7 on 37s. It is the wife's daily driver and grocery getter. It will be used on occasion to haul a car trailer and my Jeep combined weight of 5K. I am planning to install a 4 inch DPF bypass pipe with a 30 inch muffler, ebay no name EGR delete kit, and S&B cold air intake system. I would like a tune for MPG one for towing, and not really sure about the 3rd tune I guess mild performance? Are there any other parts you recommend while doing this? Will you need any other info like gear ratios? Some people say I should do an elbow too. Thanks, Mack

Asked by: Mack - 11/10/2020
Customer Answer Neither ourselves nor 5-Star will tune for a DPF Delete/DPF Bypass nor an EGR delete. Your much better bet would be a custom tune on a local chassis dyno.

Customer Question Will this tuner allow me to change my tire size to correct the speedometer for 37" tires?

Asked by: Chris - 12/29/2019
Customer Answer It will, though you will need to know the exact revs per mile of your tires, since you can't just input the size.

Customer Question Does this work on deleted trucks?

Asked by: Matt - 9/23/2019
Customer Answer It will not. 5-Star does not tune for DPF-delete or EGR-delete applications.

Customer Question I have a 2016 ford f250 6.7 will this product remove my Speedometer limit from off of 95 due to my drag racing on a closed track ?

Asked by: Joshua Puga - 10/30/2017
Customer Answer The X4 can increase or remove your truck's speed limiter. However, we do not recommend going over 125mph, as that's about the limit the factory driveshafts can handle.

Customer Question When not towing, does one of the tunes increase every day mileage?

Asked by: Chuck - 7/2/2017
Customer Answer As long as you don't change your current driving habits, you should see an increase in fuel economy with 5-Star's tunes. Granted, a lot of folks have trouble keeping their foot off the throttle when tuned, which can actually decrease fuel economy.

Customer Question I have a 2016 6.7L F-250. I was looking at installing a new 4 inch exhaust system, a cold air intake, and this tuner. Would I have to buy an egr delete kit from another company, or does your tuner work without the delete kit??

Asked by: Jeremy - 4/16/2017
Customer Answer This device does not require an EGR delete for operation.

Customer Question Will the custom tunes still benefit my 2015 6.7 powerstroke bone stock? No cai or anything.

Asked by: John Stayer - 3/25/2017
Customer Answer Yep. You'll still see pretty significant power and torque gains with just the tuning alone.

Customer Question On my 2012 F250, I had the monitor mounted on the dashboard of my truck. I actually want one that I can program the truck and then store it away in the glove box. I have the AMP electric side steps on my truck and it stays plugged to the OBD II slot so I can't have both, I'm guessing. Is there a solution to my problem? Also, can the tuner be detected once restored to stock?

Asked by: Dana Allen - 8/2/2016
Customer Answer The X4 does not have to stay plugged into your truck. Once you upload the tune, you can unplug the device and put it away in your glove box to free up your OBD-II port for your AMP steps. There is always a chance of tune detection, even if you return your truck to stock.

Customer Question If I buy this tuner how it is will I be able to delete egr and dpf with it?

Asked by: Kevin Harrington - 5/26/2016
Customer Answer You will not. 5-Star does not tune for DPF or EGR Delete applications due to EPA and CARB emissions regulations.

Customer Question Does this programmer allow for changes in tire size and pressures, thanks in advance?

Asked by: luis - 4/13/2016
Customer Answer The device does allow for changing tire size without any problems (though you will need to covert your tire size to revs per mile for use with the device). TPMS settings are adjustable to some extent, but the range is pretty limited.

Customer Question Hey guys, I've got a 2016 F250 with the 6.7L. Will this product work with the 2016 model? I know it says 2011-14, but 5 star's website says 11-16. Also, I just had a 50 gallon fuel tank installed, and had my mechanic calibrate the computer so that it would read the DTE correctly. Would 5 star be able to calibrate the computer for the 50 gallon fuel tank? Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Ross - 1/27/2016
Customer Answer 5-Star can tune for the 2016 F250 and F350s. The listing has been updated. 5-Star's tuning should not effect any adjustments to the fuel gauge readings or PCM estimated DTE figures made via Ford IDS, so you should be good in that regard.

Customer Question Hi, I have a 2011 Ford 6.7. It's completely bone stock. no upgrades whatsoever. I drive a 2016 6.7 that my work gives me once and a while. I notice the difference between the two trucks, but they are identical. did ford just do it's own tune on the newer trucks? I would be interested in buying a tuner from you. is there anything that should be done mechanically to the truck for the tune? i don't want any modifications other than the little bit of boost the 2016 has over the 2011. The 2016 gets better milage and i'm on the accelerator much less when pulling a trailer. Thanks - Dave

Asked by: Dave - 1/8/2016
Customer Answer Ford did up the power outputs on the 6.7L Super Dutys for the 2015-2016 model years, bring the crankshaft torque up to 860lb-ft from 800lb-ft. In general, you don't need to do anything to the truck if you're solely tuning it, especially if you stick with 5-Star's towing tune. If using the performance tune, you'll need to keep an eye on your EGTs and may need to add upgrades, depending on how high they get.
