What exactly do you mean when offroad pipes are not covered? Damages caused by these parts or the parts themselves are not covered?
@Jordan: we're only offering these warranties in conjunction with 5-Star's custom tuning and only if you purchase one of our warranty options. If you only have an intake, you should not have any warranty issues. If are currently running a 5-Star Tune and would like a warranty, then give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433.
Are there any options for customers that have already purchased custom 5-Star tunes? I plan on buying additional items from your store, at which time I'll have my tunes revised; would I be able to purchase a warranty within 30 days of the tune revisions? Thanks.
@John: we're most likely going to run a deal where you're effectively "grandfathered" in for a limited time. You'd still have to purchase a warranty and go through the registration process, however. These tunes still qualify under our Lifetime Tunes Program, so any revision would be free, regardless of whether or not you have one of our warranties. Your best bet is to give us a call directly at 1-877-578-2433 so we can get more specific about your plans.
Hi I was reading the warranty information and saw the section regarding modifications to the turbo system not qualifying for the warranty. Couuld you clarify whether you would warranty the Turbosmart mechanical BOV for the 2011-2012 ecoboost?
@Cole: TurboSmart's BOVs are fine, though we are pretty wary about more universal BOVs or custom BOV setups. What we were really referring to when it comes to disallowed turbo upgrades are things like aftermarket compressor wheels, machined or ported compressor/turbine housings, full-on turbo swaps, and things of that nature.
@Matt: define "straight pipe". If you mean you just have a piece of pipe deleting your truck's stock resonator, then yes. If you have "straight pipe" deleting your mid-pipe and cats, then no.
It mentions that the vehicle needs to have the latest TSB. I'm i wrong but doesn't a TSB only need to be done if there is a persistent issue? So if I need to make a claim how does this work if my truck doesn't have the latest TSB if it was never needed?
it says no custom exhaust but i was wanting to do true 2.5" duals with mufflers and cats, while still being able to get a warranty from you guys
I get what the warranty does while my Ford warranty is in effect, up to 36k miles. But I want a warranty that covers me up to 100k miles. There won't be any Ford warranty to stand in front of yours. So AC, electronics won't be covered, but any and all drivetrain will? Please clarify... SB
My ecoboost is at 78k miles, so if i would buy this now and add the 60 thousand mile warranty will it cover to 138k miles or just to 100k miles?
@Logan: you actually wouldn't be covered at all. The warranties are based on your odometer reading, so you'd need to get a 100,000 mile warranty to obtain any coverage. @jared: you choose the fuel octane of your tunes, and as long as you use the proper tuning for your preferred octane, you will be fine.
Are intercooler upgrades covered? I am interested in the Full Race relocated intercooler with Tial blowoff valve to fix the annoying OEM intercooler moisture issue.
Can damaged components be replaced with used components with this warranty? In other words, if my transmission fails could it be replaced with a used transmission under the terms of this warranty?
@FI4josh: Any repairs done to a given truck under our warranty will be carried out by an authorized Ford dealership, and their service writers will have final say. The majority of the time with transmissions, Ford service centers will get a new unit or have the damaged unit rebuilt, depending on the extent of the problem. However, if neither of those options are available, then they'll look at used transmissions just to get the truck back on the road. Now, we would be working closely with both you and a given dealership if something were to happen, and if you're adamant about not getting used parts, then we'd work with the service center to oblige, even if it means more downtime for your truck.
@Warren: that's going to be wholly dependent on what truck you have, it's engine option, and what tunes you end up choosing.
I have a 2011 ecoboost with 68k miles and a heartthrob exhaust. Which warranty do you suggest I get with a SCT tune? Does it cover canned tunes?
So from what I'm reading my truck with 70k with 100k would only have 30k coverage and if it's 2011, I've got a year left before your top warranty runs out? So anyone even with 30k on their truck is sort of getting half warranty at 60k for $500 .... Shouldn't you count the mileage from the time the tuner is installed and warranty purchased? No offense but sort of a rip off. Even if I got 20k on my truck, I just paid for 60k warranty but 20k of that warranty i tossed it out the window at the same time. :(
I purchased the SCT Livewire TS + tuner & 5 Star custom tunes for my 2013 Ford F-150 Fx4 and also purchased the warranty for 5yr/ 60,000 miles additionally. I am super happy with this programmer. It’s made a huge difference in my trucks preformance and gas mileage. I had to take it in to Ford this morning for some issues I believe that is related to the transmission. I wanted to talk to someone with the warranty department. Can someone forward me a good contact. Is this warranty thru Stage 3 or a 3rd party company? Thanks Jeff F.
