Instead of jumping straight into a massive 6" lift right off the bat, we decided to test out a few different leveling kit options on our 2015 F150 to see what kind of stance and off road capability we could gain. The systems we tested were the Auto Spring 2" Spacers, Fox 2.0 Coilovers, Icon Stage 2 Kit, and the HaloLifts BOSS Coilovers. We also mounted up a set of 33" Pro Comp Xtreme MT2's on the factory FX4 wheel. You can purchase these exact mods in the product section at the bottom of this page.
Like all the F150's that came before it, our 2015 F150 had a noticeable and annoying front rake. While fleet trucks need that rake for fleet truck things, we sure didn't. The simple, quick solution for this was a 2014-2015 F150 Auto Spring 2" Leveling Kit. Auto Spring's leveling kit installs on top of your front struts and features an offset design that helps prevent UCA contact with the coil spring. This kit is a clean and cheap way to get a nice stance and some more clearance for larger tires. We approve. 2014-2017 F150 Auto Spring 2" Front Leveling Kit
There was no sense in us testing all these F150 leveling kits with a boring highway tire on our truck so we tossed on a set of 295/65/R18 Pro Comp Xtreme MT2s. These 33" tires fit perfectly with no rubbing on almost any 2" leveling kit and provide a much needed increase in traction off-road. While the tread pattern is pretty aggressive, they still ride extremely well and look awesome on our F150's FX4 wheels. Unfortunately, we no longer carry these specific tires, but we do have a wide selection of similar 33" Off-Road Tires that will look great on your custom build.
After we pulled off the AutoSpring spacer kit, we took our truck's actual suspension performance up a level by bolting on a 2014-2017 F150 Fox Stage 1 Suspension Package, which included a pair of rugged Fox 2.0 Front Coilovers and 2.0 Rear Shocks. The coilovers provide vastly improved rebound, compression, and articulation while still maintaining your factory ride when you're on pavement. They feature adjustable ride height from 0" to 2" , making them a great way to level out the front of your truck to get on bigger tires. We were very impressed with the capability and stance our F150 gained from the Fox Stage 1 System. 2014-2017 F150 4WD FOX Stage 1 Suspension Package
The second part of the Fox Stage 1 Suspension Kit was a pair of Fox 2.0 Rear Shocks. The Fox 2.0s are drop-in replacement, 2" diameter shocks that provide a huge bump in suspension performance over stock. These aluminum-bodied shocks have a monotube internal design, large oil capacity, and finely tuned valving that all works together to improve rebound, increase travel, and reduce fade. These shocks can easily handle up to 1.5" increase in rear ride height, meaning there's room to add a 3" rear block down the road. Like the front coilovers, the Fox 2.0 rear shocks ride extremely smooth on the road, so you don't have to sacrifice ride quality for better off road capability. 2014-2017 F150 4WD FOX Stage 1 Suspension Package
While our Fox 2.0 suspension served us and our 2015 F150 more than adequately, we felt the need to upgrade to something a little bit more robust for those "hold my beer" moments out there in the wilds. That's why we swapped out our Fox hardware with a 15-17 F150 4WD ICON Stage 2 Suspension Package that includes a set of high-quality 2.5 Front Coilovers, ICON Tubular Upper Control Arms, and a set of 2.0 Aluminum Series Rear Shocks. Unlike a lot of their competition, ICON went in and re-valved both the front coilovers and the rear shocks to better compensate for the much lighter weight of the 2015-2017 F150s. The end result is a suspension kit that is perfect for aggressive off-roading, but still keeps a pretty smooth ride on the street. We also threw in a Pro Comp 3" Rear Block to squeeze a little extra ride height out of the rear for a more aggressive look. 2015-2017 F150 4WD ICON Stage 2 0-2.5" Suspension System
With a Zone 6" Lift Kit next in line to be installed on our 2015 F150, we needed to do some suspension prep-work. We picked up a set of HaloLifts' 2014-2015 F150 0-3" BOSS Coilovers to replace the current Icon system . While the BOSS system is technically a performance downgrade over our current ICON 2.5 Coilovers, we were a bit concerned how the ICON coilovers would ride after a Zone Lift Kit was stacked on top of them, given that they already stiffened up the factory ride. HaloLifts BOSS Coilovers offer up an extremely smooth ride while adding up to 3" of front lift and improving suspension performance over stock. However, we no longer have this specific coilover kit in stock, but with our inventory of other F150 Coilover Kits, you'll find the perfect one for your build.
