I have been very pleased with the tech support and customer service at both Full Race and Stage3Motorsports. Mechanically, I am not the most savvy, but can usually get the job done by going slowly and laying everything out. Quality: Compared to the stock I/C that comes in the EcoBoost there is no comparison. The build of this intercooler is superior to the stock in both material and design. The clamps are heavy duty, hot/cold pipes are sturdy and fit perfectly, and the mount for this thing is the perfect solution for every truck out there. Customer Service: I have to mention this because I deal with customer service desks on a daily basis and not once have I called Stage3 or Full Race and had a bad experience. They answer the questions to a T and are friendly while doing so... keeping us less than mechanically inclined in mind. Install: The install took me a few hours. My biggest concern was tearing it apart and not knowing where everything went, so before starting I mapped it all out and then did a mock install in the garage so I could see how everything went together. The directions provided are very clear on the components included made the process go much smoother. The only thing I can mention is make sure and put the rubber mounts in before mounting the I/C... kind of a pain to go back and do at the end. The hardest part I came across was the throttle body spacer. My hands are clumsy and had a hard time getting the angle to line up. Right tool for the right job and it would have gone better.

Where to begin? The craftsmanship of the CAC is immaculate. You can tell Full Race TRULY takes pride in their work. The install was pretty straight forward, except the BOV part. I'm new to turbo life so that was troubling, mainly because I second guessed myself on my install... FR really needs to have an amendment to their install guid for the BOV. Not sure where people are saying the parts don't fit, everything fit perfectly! A little soap and water and those babies will come together. It's supposed to be tight! The main bracket was a hair too narrow but I made it work and she is quite solid. Overall- amazing product. I can't see why you would choose any other CAC, especially since you get a solid product and for a reasonable price; Not to mention you also upgrade the charge pipe and save $300 from the Afe option. No brainier in my book.

This is money! Reduced my cruising temps going to work (70 MPH, cruise on) by 20 degrees and now runs 1-5 degrees within ambient temps. This also allowed me to place a winch in the stock CAC spot. I opted for the TiAL BOV which I believe did nothing for performance but does an excellent job at turning heads with it's choo-choo noises. Install took an hour because I took some time to clean everything up and I had to pull the throttle body for the spacer (only required with the TiAL). I then took it for a test drive and floored it. I heard a bang and got a check engine light. So, make sure you tighten everything down properly or you might blow off a coupler. lol So far I have been running this for a year and how seen no issues. The TiAL BOV also does a great job of blowing out moisture and oil to keep everything clean. So if you have the shuttering issue, this might be the upgrade for you!

This intercooler took only 30 minutes to install on the ground. The BOV sounds awesome and it's awesome with the power, I don't have a different tune that includes the intercooler but its a must have on the truck and it looks awesome sitting behind the grill. Just ensure that the cap is with the kit for the hot side (driver side) turbo pipe since your removing the factory BOV and intercooler.

Fantastic buy, I am very happy with fullrace the build of this intercooler is awesome, it really did bolt up in a hour or so, actually enjoyed installing it . My turbo smart bov was all crammed behind my charge pipe on my stock intercooler couldn't even adjust it very well before , the fitting for the bov is in the perfect place . I was looking at all the other intercoolers first and ignoring the fullrace because of price But Lou convinced me the others were nothing like this one, he was not lying my truck runs fantastic, any shudder that I had before has gone . I paired it with a 160% thermostat, and a UPR duel valve catch can , My second wife is very happy now and breathing well... Check it out for yourself @englishlad808

I bought this intercooler so I could put a winch on my truck since the stock intercooler blocked where it would go. The packaging for the parts was very well done, although I think the box full of packing peanuts was slightly over the top considering the amount of bubble wrap around each piece but all the parts were very well made. They were quite a tight fit, especially with a hidden winch mount and the winch in place. The only issue I had was the engage/disengage lever on the winch itself. With the intercooler in, you had no access to it. I ended up cutting off the handle and welding T-Handle onto it which gave me space to fit in my truck and it seems to be working well so far. I went from 17.1 mpg to 15.5 mpg after the exhange. It could be do to the added weight in the front or the computer hasn't adjust to the new intercooler yet. More driving will be needed to see if that persists. I also had to mount the horn off to the side rather than using the mounting bracket that comes with this kit. It made it sound line a choking chicken. Everything is a tight fit as well and when I say tight fit, I mean tight fit. I had one if my hoses come off the first week I drove it but I changed the clamps and haven't had an issue since. Other than those few issues it did exactly what I wanted it to and I now have a working hidden winch on my 2012 Ecoboost.

Where to start.. I have a 7in lift and have off-road bumpers and the front have a huge skidplate and was blocking the stock intercooler, plus I have intake and exhaust and a tune so definitely needed a grill intercooler. It gave my truck a lot more air to breathe and definitely feels faster now that the intercooler isn't being blocked. I'm a little disappointed that I had to wait almost 6 weeks to receive this. Everything came in a huge box full of packing peanuts which was a huge mess and annoying and there were lots of little parts scattered and hard to find. No instructions and hard to find on the website, and I had some missing parts. The o rings weren't wide enough on the y tube and the pipe from the top on the motor was not long enough and just didn't look like the pics. It was a pain in the butt to install this. Im a mechanic and do these upgrades a lot. Everything just felt a little off and not straight. I'm happy with this but also a little not happy with it.

Multiple minor issues, missing parts, and inconveniences. First off, the intercooler looks nothing like the fully welded aluminum intercooler that is advertised amongst Stage 3 and Full Race's website. It is in-fact a dull cast aluminum intercooler that has random tabs welded on that serve no purpose to older F150s. I assume they are re purposing the intercoolers from the newer F150/Raptors with adaptive cruise control. This is minor but very frustrating as when I spend $1,500.00 on something I would simply like it to look like the thing I thought I was buying. Second, my hard-line vent tube on the cold side pipe wasn't remotely close to fitting so I had to borrow a car to go purchase a flexible hose to run it to the pipe. Again minor, but an issue that should not occur with this kit. Third, I had to wallow out the holes on the intercooler lower mounting bracket in order to bolt it to the frame. Fourth I was provided no brass plug to plug the bung on the side of the intercooler, so as of now I have a carburetor stud sticking out of it to keep it plugged. I have gone to a handful of stores to try and locate said brass plug, but nothing I have found fits. Fifth, the kit didn't come with with the 2.5 couplers for the hotside piping. I had to cut down my stock rubber couplers to be able to drive the truck home, and have since ordered better silicone couplers off of Amazon. I can't say i expected to be ordering additional parts to simply finish the install of this top dollar kit... The instructions (that you have to find on their website) are vague, and leave out key details that i had to stumble through to figure out. For $1,500.00-$1,600.00 dollars, they need to make a youtube tutorial at the very least. On the positive side, the Tial blow off valve sounds good... I can't speak on performance as I've only had it installed for a couple days. From my experience with this kit, i would say lower your expectations on what $1,500.00 buys you or else you will be disappointed.

The packaging of the product was phenomenal bubble wrap and lots of packing peanuts. The initial quality of the parts were great but upon installation some parts were not up to part. The horn relocation bracket did not fit, I had to drill the hole big to get it to work. The pipe that connects to the throttle body had the hose connection on the wrong side so I had to have a buddy make a new hose to fit. I waited 6 weeks for this product and was really excited to get it. I'm not sure I would buy something else from full race, when you pay that kind of money I would expect things to fit perfectly. I still think it's a good product but some direction would be nice.

Customer Question Will the full race intercooler work with my catch can from UPR that is mounted on the pass front side. By the horn

Asked by: Tyler Westcott - 2/19/2023
Customer Answer That somewhat depends on which UPR catch can you specifically have. The UPR Mega Cans tend to have more problems. You may be able to remount it closer to the headlight by drilling a new hole for the mounting bracket, but in general, UPR's front-mounted catch cans will have some interference with this intercooler.

Customer Question I have a 2014 f150 ecoboost am already tuned when I put the Intercooler and throttle body does it need a retune ?

Asked by: JOSE C Enriquez - 9/21/2022
Customer Answer The intercooler will not require a retune. In general, the decrease in charge air temperature would make it function as if it were a cooler day. If you are installing an aftermarket throttle body, you'll need to check with your tuner and see if you'll need a retune.

Customer Question A few questions actually. I have a UPR MEGA Catch Can. Will these two work together for fitment or will I need to move the can? Second I have 5star tuning. Does buying from you qualify for the free retune from 5 star? My truck has 5 star tune and intake kit and turbosmart EM Blow Off. I really want this for a winch mount as it is cheaper then a dumb looking steel winch bumper. Any thoughts on if there will be any real gains in power?

Asked by: 300lbsgorilla - 4/19/2020
Customer Answer The Mega can won't clear in its out of the box mounting location. Most folks end up relocating the can a few inches closer to the headlight when installing this intercooler by drilling a new hole in the radiator support. The hoses have enough slack to allow this.

Customer Question I have a 2014 EcoBoost and I ordered this with the tial bov. I saw something about block off plates for going from a stock bov to a tial bov. Do I need these? If so, is this why it makes a whistle sound than the blow off?

Asked by: Lee - 5/14/2019
Customer Answer Block-off plates are only required on the 2011-2012 F150s with turbo-mounted BOVs. If you've ordered this kit with a TiAL BOV, the TiAL unit will simply replace your single stock eBOV on the cold-side piping, and no plates are required. If you're getting a whistling sound instead of a noticeable BOV sound, you may have a leak somewhere or your TiAL does not have the correct spring for your boost pressure.

Customer Question I have the UPR Oil Catch can mounted; given this is a higher mounted intercooler, will there be any fitment issues?

Asked by: John - 4/15/2019
Customer Answer It depends on which UPR catch can you're running. In general, UPR's standard dual-valve cans can fit, though need to be relocated closer to the the headlight along the upper radiator support. UPR's MEGA cans tend to have fitment issues that aren't easily remedied with a Full-Race intercooler install. Your best bet would be to call us directly at 623-434-5277 so we can get more specific about what catch can you're running.

Asked by: Mtrhed - 3/29/2019

Customer Question I have a UPR oil catch can on the front passenger side of my truck and i was wondering if the catch can and the intercooler will both fit if the front?

Asked by: thomas - 11/28/2017
Customer Answer It depends on which UPR catch can you have. The MEGA can will not fit with this intercooler at all due to its size. The smaller UPR dual-valve can usually can fit by just relocating it slightly closer to the headlight. If you have a MEGA can, you'd have to make some modifications to relocate it really close to the headlight (and remove the dust shield) or into the engine bay somewhere.

Customer Question I drive a 2014 F150, I'm interested in the different BOVs? What exactly is the TiAL Q BOV? What's the benefit vs the factory elect BOV? Also I have a UPR dual value oil catch can installed on my truck. Do you know where I would be able to move the catch can? By the pictures provided, it seems there is not enough room for the catch can and this intercooler. Also last one, I saw that is you get a certain BOV you have to have the throttle body spacer, why is that? I am planning ordering the BBK larger throttle body for the eco boost, will this set up work? Thanks in advance

Asked by: Peyton - 3/28/2017
Customer Answer The TiAL Q BOV is a true vent-to-atmosphere BOV that has that BOV blow-off sound that folks like. Depending on which UPR can in particular, some people have had success just moving their can closer to the headlight by drilling a new hole in the upper radiator support. However, if you have the UPR MEGA can, you're in a tighter jamb, and probably won't be able to get it to fit next to the intercooler. You may be able to relocate it into the interior of your engine bay. Full-Race's throttle body spacer is generally recommended with the TiAL Q BOV, as there's not a good place to pull boost reference for the TiAL Q unit, and the Full-Race Spacer has NPT ports that allows you to do it. The BBK throttle body is compatible with Full-Race's throttle body spacer.

Customer Question Seeing that they have a flange for the turbosmart BOV, this shouldn't be a fitment issue with my 2013 EcoBoost? Also is there a recommended catch can to install with this to help with condensation issues?

Asked by: Ian Lowry - 2/26/2017
Customer Answer Nope. As long as you order the intercooler with the Turbosmart flange, you should be good to go. Due to this intercooler's high-mount placement, you are a bit limited in catch can options. You do have a few options, including UPR's Engine Bay Mount Dual-Valve Can, the Full-Race PCV Delete Catch Can Kit, and any more basc in-line can like the JLT 3.0s.

Customer Question What will happen if I go through water that is higher then the bov? What would the repercussions be?

Asked by: Benjamin - 11/29/2016
Customer Answer You run the risk of some water ingress when the BOV opens, but since air is coming out at the same time, it would likely be fairly minimal. You'll have other issues if you're fording that deep before the BOV, namely with the differential breathers, which you'd need to extend and secure someplace.

Asked by: Jacob - 11/2/2016
Customer Answer The TiAL Qs come standard with an 8psi spring that is generally fine for stock trucks and more mild builds and tuning. In general, the 10psi springs are reserved for full bolt-on F150s with more aggressive tuning. If you want a true BOV sound or better boost-holding than the factory eBOV, you could order the intercooler with a flange for a Turbosmart BOV, and then purchase the Turbosmart Supersonic BOV Kit here as a separate item.

Customer Question Would this product reduce or eliminate the condensation that builds up in the stock set up? That causes the engine to shudder under heavier acceleration

Asked by: Ethan - 10/4/2016
Customer Answer This intercooler can help, in that you're starting over with a completely bone-dry intercooler and your engine won't be able to gulp a ton of built-up moisture. However, the EcoBoost condensation problems are multi-faceted, and the only way to really totally eliminate the issue is to get all of your truck's TSB work done, regap your spark plugs or get get new spark plugs and ensure their gap is at a maximum of .030" if you're tuned or .034" if you're on the stock tune, get a catch can kit of some sort, clean out your intercooler on the regular, and/or get an aftermarket intercooler.

Customer Question Can you run the tial bov if I use block off plates on my compressor mount bovs 2011 f150?

Asked by: jody - 9/8/2016
Customer Answer You technically could, though you would also need to order the Full-Race Throttle Body Spacer to pull boost reference. That being said, by the time you price out the TiAL, TB Spacer, and block-off plates you're pretty close to the same price as a pair of Turbosmart Kompact BOVs, though the Turbosmart units are much easier to install, setup, and dial in than the 2011-2012 EcoBoost TiAL setups. Still, it is absolutely doable.

Customer Question I have a 2013 with an afe charge pipe and bbk 73 mm throttle body will I have any complications with fitment?

Asked by: Mattm - 7/31/2016
Customer Answer The BBK 73mm throttle body will fit just fine in conjunction with the intercooler. However, the aFe charge pipe will not fit, due to the fact that the Full-Race Intercooler has a high-mount design that changes the location of the cold-side outlet and that the full-race intercooler kit comes with its own tubing for hooking to the throttle body and intercooler outlet.

Asked by: 2013 F150 XLT - 5/4/2016
Customer Answer The throttle body spacer is only required if you're ordering this kit with an optional TiAL Q BOV or if you're looking to use the NPT ports on the spacer for some purpose. If you have the BBK throttle body, you probably want to avoid using Full-Race's throttle body spacer (if possible), as I believe the spacer is the factory diameter to match the stock throttle body.

Customer Question if i get the methanol bung, will it be sufficient to be used as my boost/vacuum port for the turbosmart BOV ? Id Like to idea of throwing the throttle body spacer idea out the window or using it as a future source for a meth kit

Asked by: Kerry - 3/22/2016
Customer Answer The Turbosmart BOV option only consists of a flange, and is really meant for F150s that already have a 2013-2016 F150 Turbosmart Supersonic BOV already installed. That being said, the Turbosmart BOV does not require Full-Race's throttle body spacer, and comes with its own hardware for boot/vacuum reference.

Customer Question Would this interfere with the extra transmission cooler in front of the radiator?

Asked by: Jose - 3/20/2016
Customer Answer To some extent, yes. However, in our experience, airflow to the trans cooler is not interrupted enough to cause dangerous spikes in transmission fluid temperature.

Customer Question Hello: I have a 2011 ecoboost that has turbosmart BOVs. Will this product interfere with those at all? Thanks, Ryan

Asked by: Ryan - 12/28/2015
Customer Answer It will not, as the BOVs on the 2011 to 2012 F150s are mounted on the turbos. Just make sure to select the "2011-2012" option under the "Year of EcoBoost" drop-down when you order.

Customer Question Will this I intercooler give me enough room to mount winch behind stock bumper? And what size winch would u recommend? Thx u

Asked by: Ryan - 10/13/2015
Customer Answer It can, however, you will need to either purchase a winch mounting plate or have one fabricated. Depending on the dimensions of the winch mount and how much clearance you have, then you'll need to decide on a winch. In general, only low-profile, entry-level, or compact winch systems will fit.

Customer Question hey there so which intercooler is better for a lift truck and off road use. the full race intercooler or the afe intercooler with hot and cold side charge pipes ?

Asked by: michael - 7/30/2015
Customer Answer Well, if you're planning on running a winch on your truck in either the stock lower bumper or on an aftermarket front bumper, then you're going to need the Full-Race Kit. If you're not planning on running a winch, then it's really a toss-up, as the overall cooling performance, airflow, and IAT reductions are going to be similar. That being said, the Full-Race Intercooler kit does block more of the radiator, which means that your coolant temperatures can spike if you're really thrashing your truck around off-road at lower speeds, so the aFe kit may be a better choice in that regard.

Customer Question Will this intercooler work with the turbo smart supersonic BOV?

Asked by: Ryan - 7/25/2015
Customer Answer No, unfortunately it will not due to the clearance required for the Turbosmart unit.

Customer Question Can the ports for the Meth Bungs be plugged/sealed for future Meth kit addition?

Asked by: Heath O'Barr - 6/14/2015
Customer Answer Yep. The meth bungs are just 1/8" NPT bungs, which is what's used by most aftermarket water-meth kits. You can simply plug them with a standard 1/8" NPT plug that are widely available until you get your water-meth system of choice set up.

Customer Question So I know with the the early year Ecoboosts they were having issues with the intercooler. From what I understand they were too efficient and created moisture. I am thinking this intercooler is alot more efficient then stock are there issues with moisture in the FR intercoolers?

Asked by: tico1998 - 4/9/2015
Customer Answer That's actually not what the problem was at all. The issue with the factory intercooler was that it was the lowest point in the turbo system, which meant that oil blow-by and moisture from the PCV system, as well as condensation build-up from temperature differentials would keep pooling in factory intercooler. Since the intercooler had a fairly basic single-core, single-pass design, that moisture build-up would get gulped up the cold-side tubing and into the engine. The Full-Race Kit will do nothing but help the problem, rather than make it worse.

Customer Question So is this the replacement for turbo smart? Is this EBOV for 2013 f-150 3.5 ecoboost?

Asked by: marcos - 2/18/2015
Customer Answer No, this is a complete intercooler kit. It can come with an optional TiAL BOV that's a functional replacement for your factory eBOV. The Turbosmart eBOV replacement is located right here, but has not yet been released.

Customer Question I was about to purchase this item but noticed something. Will this fit with the dual catch can system that mounts in the front near the horn?

Asked by: Mike B - 11/17/2014
Customer Answer Not with the catch can in its intended position. You'd likely have to relocate the can closer to the headlight and possibly need to remove the headlight's splash shield. Depending on which can you're running, you may need to extend its lines, if possible.

Customer Question Will this work with the 73mm Throttle Body? What will that setup do to gas mileage?

Asked by: Mike - 11/7/2014
Customer Answer It is compatible with the BBK 73mm throttle body, though the fitment of the coupler from the charge pipe tubing to the throttle body is extremely tight. In theory, both upgrades together should boost fuel economy, assuming no change in driving habits. That being said, you may see an initial drop in economy as your computer "learns" the new airflow dynamics over the first 500 miles.

Customer Question Just curious, by having the TiAL BOV installed, would this eliminate the need of a catch can? Or would it be a good idea to have both?

Asked by: Avery 2013 F150 EcoBoost xlt - 10/26/2014
Customer Answer Not necessarily. Technically, the eBOV (or replacement TiAL BOV) position helps reduce the amount of moisture buildup in the intercooler, but it doesn't completely eliminate the problem. A catch can is still recommended, but with swapping out the intercooler anyway, the choice is really up to you.

Customer Question Ok why is there not a Dyno of a real stock ecoboost truck instead of on a modded truck, you have stock listing 516 and 341 @the wheels that not stock,How are we meant to see what the real difference it,plus this kit is not really about the intercooler,as the hot,and cold side pipes are swaped out...if you look at the AFE pipes they pick up more alone than Full races set with a intercooler ????what is up with that ????? For all we know this could of been the difference between a truck with a AFE kit installed ,or whatever..You need to do a fair copmparsion between products,as this is hard earn money your asking use to spend

Asked by: mark - 9/12/2014
Customer Answer Well, for one, that's not our dyno, that's one that Full-Race did themselves. Secondly, there's two reasons to install this intercooler (or any aftermarket intercooler) and that's to get more power out of a custom tune or to reposition the intercooler up higher so that you can mount a winch or light bar in your lower bumper. Quite frankly, an aftermarket intercooler is not going to help much on a bone stock truck, other than give it some peak power, a reduction in losses from heat soak, while reducing the chances of water ingestion. Tuned trucks are the ones that really see a large benefit from an intercooler, which is why Full-Race chose to dyno a modded truck.

Customer Question Will the full race intercooler with the phase 2 kit eliminate the dreaded ecoboost shudder, caused from the condensation?

Asked by: Bradley - 7/26/2014
Customer Answer It will just by the nature of having a dry intercooler to start out with, and it's less susceptible to moisture and oil buildup over stock. If you are experiencing shuddering, you should go to your dealer and get the latest TSBs performed as soon as possible and also get a full set of SP-534 (or equivalent) spark plugs gapped down to the proper specs.

Customer Question I have a 2014 F150 ecoboost, and I have two questions. First, What would be the benefit of getting a TiAL Q BOV over the electronic OEM BOV? Second, I assume that if I pick that option (OEM electronic BOV) I do not have to get the Throttle body spacer, is that right? Thank you, Anthony

Asked by: Anthony - 7/17/2014
Customer Answer From my understanding, the TiAL Q is more or less a sound and appearance modification. Performance, boost building, and boost holding aren't effected either way. You are correct. If you keep the stock eBOV, you do not need to get the throttle body spacer.

Customer Question I was looking at upgrading my intercooler in my 2013 F150 EB and I am currently down to this one and the Wagner EVO. I really like the mounting options of the FR but does placement of this intercooler, but do these front, top mounted intercoolers restrict airflow to the radiator?

Asked by: NeoBoost - 7/16/2014
Customer Answer It will interfere with radiator airflow to some extent, but it's not nearly enough of a issue to cause a huge spike in coolant temperatures that could harm your engine.

Customer Question Does the trial blow off valve fit on my 2011 ecoboost truck?

Asked by: luis palomo 2011 f150 ecoboost - 5/10/2014
Customer Answer Negative. The TiAL BOVs are only for 2013 and 2014 F150s which have the remote-mounted eBOV on the intercooler. If you want a set of BOVs for your truck, take a look at our TurboSmart Kompact BOV.

Customer Question Does this void factory warranty ? And does product make it possible to put on a blow off valve. Iv been reading where 2013 models cannot have a bov

Asked by: Brandon 2013 ford f150 ecoboost - 2/1/2014
Customer Answer All warranty decisions are up to individual dealerships, though they would have to prove that intercooler somehow caused a failure in order for that to happen. For the 2013 and 2014 EcoBoosts, this intercooler comes with an option for replacement BOV from TiAL, or a relocation for your truck's stock electronic BOV.

Customer Question Does this kit come with a FULL set of aluminum charge pipes? I thought each turbo has a BOV so if I get the TiAL Q BOV what happens to the stock set? Thanks

Asked by: Mark Skala 2011 ecoboost - 1/16/2014
Customer Answer It is a full set of charge pipes, except for on the passenger side of the truck this kit goes from the y pipe to the intercooler. On the drivers side the entire pipe is replaced. We can supply block off plates and run the TiAl, or you can run the stock BOVs. The advantage of running the Tial is that if there is any condensation in the intercooler the Tial BOV will discharge it. The Tial is mounted at the lowest part on the charge pipe.
