Great Inter-Cooler but...
Ordered and installed in March 2014. This Wagner Evo I/C offers a definite improvement in torque and fuel economy. I've noticed usage of only 12 gallons from Chicago to Dayton, Oh. - roughly 27.8 mpg at 70 mph with factory tune and none of the hiccuping at low rpm that was normal with the factory I/C. I can't give this 5 stars because as the temperature has increased with late spring and summer, so have transmission temps. The top of this I/C blocks off air flow from the bottom of the main radiator which is where trans fluid is passed to increase warm-up time. So far I've installed a 13 row Tru-Cool stacked plate in place of the factory trans cooler which has helped but the trans temp is still unstable. I'm going to attempt one last time to remedy the issue with an extended capacity trans pan because I really like the benefits this I/C provides. If that doesn't bring the trans temps down, I'm going to have to take the Wagner Evo out and go with something a little smaller.

2011 f150 ecoboost 3.5L
Install is straight forward. Performance is pretty sweet. Changes the zippyness of the ecoboost a lot. change for the better in my opinion. Truck feels like it has a deeper stronger power band now, like it has more balls. I have been towing a 5800lbs camper over a bad ass mountain pass with engine and transmission temps running high 218-225. since installing the Wagner inter-cooler the truck doesnt even know the trailer is there. engine and trans temsps 199-205 while going even faster up and over. I immediately noticed the difference in throttle response and overall tems. I believe the WAGNER is a must if you are looking to keep your truck running for as long as you can. I may have gone with a different inter cooler however the Wagner was the only one that i could find that is CA legal. i also have been running the Banks Ram Air intake with 5star custom 87performance tow. Gaped plugs and Magnaflow exhaust on 34. city MPG14 hiwy18mpg towing11mpg

Customer Question Why would this specific one not work with a 13-14?

Asked by: Teryn Dominguez - 7/18/2024
Customer Answer The 11-12 F150 ecoboost do not have the bov on the intercooler like the 13+ trucks do. If you are wanting to get the Wagner for a 13-14 truck you need part# 200001041.

Customer Question I have a 2012 3.5 EcoBoost with the UPR mega catch can, will this fit in my truck with the mega can?

Asked by: Justin - 8/4/2018
Customer Answer This intercooler will fit with the UPR Mega Can without issues. While the Wagner is taller than most standard drop-in intercoolers, it's not tall enough to have a fitment issue with a catch can.

Customer Question Does the larger Wagner intercooler interfere with airflow over my transmission oil cooler?

Asked by: Lee - 6/10/2018
Customer Answer The intercooler blocks a portion of the bottom row of the stock transmission cooler, which is generally not enough to cause a spike in transmission temperatures. However, if you are currently having problems with transmission or engine temperatures, then you may want to consider another intercooler option.

Customer Question How can I prevent my tranny temps from being irregular if this product cause the tranny to over heat?

Asked by: Andrew Nelsen - 3/16/2017
Customer Answer You can use something like aFe's Finned Transmission Pan or a universal auxiliary transmission cooler. if you see a spike in transmission temperatures.

Customer Question What kind of gains can be expected from this intercooler?

Asked by: Ben - 8/17/2015
Customer Answer You're probably not going to see much out of an intercooler alone, and any gains are really going to depend on who's tuning you're running and what specific tune. In all honesty, the most peak gains that you'll likely see is 5-15 horsepower and around 10lb-ft of torque. The real benefit of an intercooler is that it helps extend your power band into higher rpms and allows you to hold onto power longer than the factory intercooler, which is extremely beneficial for towing, hauling, and off-road applications.

Customer Question On your site the claim is made that “nearly all of our aftermarket intercoolers keep condensation in check so that your EcoBoost F150's performance doesn't overly suffer.” How does this product mitigate the condensation issue of the 2011 F150 ecobost? What is different in this vs the stock intercooler that removes/prevents condensation in the system? Of all the intercoolers you offer, which one does the best job of eliminating misfires caused by condensation?

Asked by: Joe - 12/3/2014
Customer Answer The first way that these intercoolers help avoid the water ingestion problems of stock is that you start over with a bone-dry intercooler to begin with. More importantly though, the larger core and dual-pass design provides less opportunity for moisture to pool, and what moisture that does pool can't be ingested into the engine all at once. If you're solely concerned about water ingestion, then this intercooler is a great choice, though your final intercooler decision should also be based on what you plan on doing with your truck. If you're going to be towing or hauling, the Wagner is probably your best bet. If you're only concerned about power gains, then the ATP, aFe, or Vortech systems may be better options. If you're going to mount up a winch or get an off-road bumper with a winch plate down the road, then the Full-Race Intercooler would be your best option. If you want to totally eliminate water ingestion problems, grab a catch can and a set of regapped spark plugs.

Customer Question I'm interested in getting this intercooler for my truck in the near future. I've also been looking at your Phase 4 performance pack, and I'm wondering if you'd be able to do a set up custom tunes with that pack AND the aftermarket intercooler? I'd be waiting until my warranty runs out before I buy the full performance kit, but it is something I'm definitely looking at.

Asked by: Bob - 10/24/2013
Customer Answer Technically, you don't even need any extra tuning for running an intercooler. Your truck's computer will just assume it's a nice, cool day and adjust fueling. That being said, 5-Star tuning is able to take into account performance intercoolers to get your truck even more power than just the intercooler alone, and we're more than happy to bundle our Phase 4 Kit and any of our intercoolers into a complete package for you. Just give us a call at 1-877-578-2433 and we'll work something out for you.
